Olivia Landerberg, at age 4, was incredibly gifted. She had the highest IQ she could possibly have at her age. At the current moment she was helping her neighbors in their garden.
"Emery? Aren't you going to help?" Olivia asked to her shadow. the neighbors looked at each other, confused. Was Emery her imaginary friend? Only one neighbor had the courage to ask.
Mary-Sue Clarinfield, a lady nearing 56, walked up to her and said, "Sweetie, who is Emery?"
Olivia laughed and said,"My shadow of course." After that that the Clarinfields never asked her to help them with anything. But Olivia didn't mind. After all she was telling the truth. And so Olivia went on with her day. She sat down with her mom and dad later that evening to eat dinner. Her mother had made spaghetti, which was her favorite food though her mother hardly ever made, so she knew sonmething was up. After all she was a child genius.
"What is it Mama,"She questioned," Is evewythink okay?" Her mother smiled and laughed.
Her mother replied,"Yes, darling. Everything is okay." Her mother loved helping her learn, so she also knew that her mother was especially happy. Hermother started speaking again,"Yor father have exciting new we would like to share with you. In nine monthes you aregoing to have a little brother or sister." Olivia couldn't help but worry.
"Are you going love them more than me?" She asked in her adorable little voice.
Her mother smiled and replied, "Never ever. Not even in a gazillion years."
Olivia smiled and excused herself from the table. She walked up to her blue and purple room then whispered,"Emery? It's alright to come out now. I'm alone." Suddenly her shadow split in half then materalized into a boy at her age with honey brown hair and green eys. He smiled and slowly after she did too.Then he frowned.
"why did you tell I was your shadow?" Emery looked hurt.
"Emmie, I didn't want to tell them the truth. They don't deserve to know. It's our little secret. Forever?"
Emery smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes,"And ever." They spent the rest of the night talking. Little did they know her father was right outside the door and couldn't hear Emery talking back. Her father thought he was going crazy so he just went to his room to sleep. After Olivia had fallen asleep Emery keep looking at her and evenucally shifted back into Olivia's shadow itself.
