It was 2AM, Tubbo had fallen asleep in Ranboo's house. Ranboo was still wide awake. Him and Tubbo were watching old Minecraft music videos in the living room before Tubbo inevitability fell asleep, so once he fell a sleep, Ranboo decided to go back into his room and watch the tapes. It's become a habit to watch them all in one sitting to be honest. Ranboo reached into the box and picked up a random tape, he then slid it into the player and pressed PLAY. Ranboo stepped back and took a seat on the floor and let the tape roll.
-
By 4AM Ranboo was in shambles just trying to piece together everything. He wanted- no, he needed to know the ending to this mystery. He knew Grayson died by Wilbur, Wilbur offed himself, Thomas has something to do with Lostfield but.. to be honest that was about it, at least of what he could remember.Out of rage, Ranboo dug into the box of tapes, grabbing at anything his hands could grip onto. He then, after his small fit, pulled out a VHS tape, though it didn't look like any of the ones he's watched before. It was gross and covered in dirt and.. blood? He was a bit grossed out but nonetheless was still curious, maybe he'd forgotten about watching this one, or maybe he didn't see it before? Whatever, if he watched it, he'd know if he's seen it before, he wanted to watch all the tapes anyway so there was no harm in watching this one especially considering how it's unfamiliar to him. Ranboo walked over to his TV that was connected to his VHS player, stuck in the tape, pressed PLAY, and sat down once again.
A scene played, Grayson and Jax sat across each other incoherently talking to one another at a table while the sun sets behind them. This was probably the most peaceful thing he had ever seen on a tape, to be honest, but this was just the beginning.
The heartwarming scene then faded and a Polaroid photo appeared on the screen, it was a photo of Lostfield. The picture then zoomed in and there was a boy, a blonde haired boy with a blue hoodie on and another boy, a brunette with a black t-shirt beside him.
"So, why did you want me to bring the tapes with us? I guess it would make sense since it's Lostfield and all that." One voice spoke, the sound of leaves crunching and moving was playing.
"Freddie I'm.." A familiar voice shakily began, "Freddie I'm sorry.."
"What do you mean you're.... Thomas. Thomas why do you have that.." Freddie mumbled. The sound of wind was the only thing heard for a moment. Then the sound of stabbing.
The photo disappeared.
It finally clicked in Ranboo's mind. Thomas killed Freddie, Freddie and Thomas were the two people in the photo of the train. Maybe that's why Thomas went missing, Freddie probably was counted as missing too, Ranboo couldn't remember if he saw a poster of Freddie in any of the tapes. He was glad that made sense but wasn't satisfied. Why did Thomas kill Freddie? And why did Wilbur kill Grayson?
A telephone ringing played.
It seemed to be picked up."I know you did it Grayson. I know you did it." Wilbur spoke with a shaky voice. He seemed angry.
"Do what, Wilbur?" Grayson replied, seemingly clueless.
"You fucking—"
The tape cut off and ended.
That was the shortest tape Ranboo had watched. He of course was confused as always, he swore this investigation was going to drive him mad, but he didn't care. Though, Ranboo was rather annoyed; now he just had more questions. What did Grayson do? Maybe whatever he did was the reason Wilbur killed him? Ranboo knew these questions are going to be left unanswered until he puts in the effort to search it up, but for now he was too sleepy to continue.
Ranboo got up from the floor and took the VHS tape out of the player. He threw it back into the box and went to the bathroom to wash his hands considering there was blood on the tape. Once he started to wash his hands, he lifted his head which was staring down at the sink, he saw a figure behind him, the figure behind him. He turned his head but it wasn't there anymore. It was only in the mirror. Ranboo started at the mirror, puzzled and definitely freaked out. The figure watched his every move. He shook his head and quickly left the bathroom and back into his bedroom, he felt like he was being watched. His worst fear was being watched without knowing he was. He laid in bed and hid under the covers, maybe he was just really really tired, he didn't know what time it was but it must certainly be late. He didn't bother looking back and fell asleep under his blanket.
-It was 9AM by now, Ranboo didn't know what day it was, all his brain could muster were questions and thoughts from the previous night. He got up groaning until his eyes met the VHS box. He was awfully tempted to look through it, maybe even see if there was more tapes he hasn't watched. Ranboo knew Tubbo was here though, he couldn't just leave him alone for the rest of the day. He had to be a good host. And so, he sluggishly trudged out his room and to where he saw Tubbo last, the living room.
Ranboo instead found Tubbo in the kitchen eating cereal, Tubbo knew Ranboo's house like the back of his hand considering how many times he's been there so this was pretty normal. Ranboo took a seat beside his friend on the spiny chairs he had by the kitchen counter.
"Hi Ran, slept well?" Tubbo asked through munching on his cereal. He seemed to be on Twitter before Ranboo ended up beside him.
"Yeah, I kinda watched some tapes after you fell asleep. I'm planning on doing that again." Ranboo dug his head into his arms that were resting on the counter.
"I think we should take a break form Lostfield, we've been at it for a while, it's not like there's a time limit, boss man." Tubbo turned his head to meet Ranboo's gaze. "It seems like it's turned into your life."
"I guess you're right, Tubz." Ranboo shrugged. He wasn't fully convinced, he really didn't want to let go of Lostfield just yet, even if it was for a little while. Maybe he could try to balance between Lostfield and his actual life, but he had so many questions he needed to look into, Lostfield felt like a task he had to finish to go forward.
"It's just— it's just I have so many questions. I found this weird tape last night, we— I— fuck." Ranboo fumbled with his words. He took a deep breath and ruffled his hair, "You're right, I should take a break from it, but it just feels wrong. I need to continue. Maybe— maybe I can explain everything to you and you can help me make sense of all this? Maybe I can even get Aimsey and Tommy into it— well maybe not Tommy, he seemed off putting about Lostfield."
"Maybe, I don't know that much at all, you've been so vague about it. Also, who's Tommy?" Tubbo finished his cereal and took the bowl into the kitchen sink and washed it.
"I know, I know, I'll tell you everything in a bit but Tommy is a friend I made in film class, he's new to school." Ranboo said, making himself sat upright.
"So he doesn't like Lostfield?" Tubbo walked back took a seat once again.
Ranboo shook his head, "He said it gave him the creeps or something. I don't really know."
Tubbo drummed his fingers against the counter, thinking. He paused for moment before looked at Ranboo with a suspicious look, "What if he knows something? Maybe he knows more about the history, more than us. You never know."
"True but.." Ranboo shook his head, "I think you're jumping to conclusions Tubbo. If we think that, we'll have to get to know him more and push him more towards the subject. He seems uncomfortable with it and I don't want to scare him."
"Wait.. let's do exactly that! Text him, ask if he wants to hang out today, we all go out and do something and then we come back here and bring up Lostfield, if he doesn't actually know anything, we can try to get him on board to help us. We should also call up Aimsey." The shorter brunette exclaimed. Ranboo agreed to the plan and soon the two were on their way to the a cafe to meet up with Tommy.
(Hello lads, I know it's been a hot minute but I'm back! Sorry it's taken so long to update this book, it's just I got really burnt out from writing, school has started, and I kind of lost that spark of love that I had when i wrote about Generations Loss or MCYT as a total. Don't you worry though, I promise I won't abandon this book without an ending chapter (because as a reader, I hate it). The updates will be slower but I'm gonna try my best to bestow upon you the highest quality of storytelling I can! This chapter isn't as good as I would like it to be, but I'll do better in the future. Anyway, thank you for sticking around, I'll see you soon <3)
