Ranboo could hear footsteps nearing. Maybe it's because him and Tubbo were in a park, so of course there would be the sound of footsteps coming and going, but it didn't stop getting closer. Ranboo looked up from his phone and noticed Tommy approaching him."Hey Tommy!" Ranboo exclaimed, waving at the blonde. Tommy reciprocated with a bright grin as he finally got close enough to speak in a normal volume.
"Hi boobs!" snickered Tommy, a sneaky smile tugging at his lips.
"Lovely nickname Tommy, thanks." Ranboo's voice full of sarcasm.
"I know right I'm just soo incredible at making nicknames, I should be famous for it to be honestl-" He interrupted himself while catching eyes with a shorter guy who was standing by Ranboo. How didn't he notice before?
"Who're you?" He bluntly asked, scrunching up his nose with a slight grimace on his face. Just by the first glace he didn't really like this guy all that much.
"Toby." Tubbo replied, his words were laced with barely-concealed anger.
Ranboo sensed the thick tension between the two, and if he could, would be able to cut a knife through it. He placed a hand on both their shoulders, "Hey, no need to be angry." He spoke "How about we go out to that cafe nearby?"
Through narrowed eyes Tommy eyed Tubbo. He then alerted his attention to Ranboo, he spoke up, however keeping the tension between him and Tubbo known. "Sure."
Tubbo simply nodded in response.
-
The three of them were now sat in a booth of a cafe, Ranboo was chewing on a sandwich with a cup of coffee to the right of the table. Tubbo sat in the inner part of the booth beside the taller brunette, sipping slowly on a hot chocolate he ordered. Tommy sat opposite of the duo, eating a cakepop he bought that was decorated with rainbows and a cute smile on it.
Ranboo swallowed the bite of his sandwich and looked over to Tommy, "Soo.." he elongated, "what are you into, Tommy?"
Tommy spoke through bites of his cakepop, "Animal crossing, music, stickers, true crime a little. I mainly listen to it with another person, though. On my own, it scares me a bit."
"Oh yeah, animal crossing!" Ranboo commented. "Toby plays it too. We should all play together sometime, maybe after we eat?"
"Sure." The blonde agreed. He then looked over at Toby, "You?"
"I'm down." He spoke, his voice lacking the anger it was laced in before.
Ranboo wondered why the suddenly tension was lifted. He didn't mind, though. It made things a lot easier.
He continued to eat until he sandwich was nothing but speckles of bread crumbs. He then got up and told the two that he was going to go pay. The others let him go walk to the counter.
"You look familiar." Tubbo murmured, staring at Tommy.
Thomas Gold, Tubbo thought. The familiar facial features were identical to Thomas. He didn't mention it, not wanting to put the boy off even more.
"The only reason I should be familiar is because you saw me on the cover of the hottest best male models!" He spat back proudly.
"Yeah right." Tubbo scoffed with no real heat.
-
The three of them traveled to Ranboo's house after leaving the cafe. Ranboo welcomed the two in and they all made way to the upstairs and went to Ranboo's room. Ranboo claimed he left his switch controller upstairs so he had to go get it, the only two followed behind.
Upon entering Ranboo's room, they were left to find a few tapes scattered about Ranboo's room. He must've forgotten to put them away. "Woops," he exclaimed and went to pick up the tapes.
"Do you know about Lostfield?" Tubbo eyed Tommy, his tone casual as to not alert the boy.. too much.
Tommy ran a hand through his blonde curls, not meeting Tubbo's gaze, "Yes— well, kinda. Not much. I don't like it, it makes me scared. Like, y'know, how could someone do such horrid things!" Rage and conviction laced in his voice.
"Yeah. There was some Thomas Gold kid missing, too. Ranboo, you have a poster, don't you?" He turned to look at the taller one who had just finished picking up and putting away the tapes.
"Mhm," he hummed and reached for the poster which was on his night stand. He showed it off to the two.
Tommy's fingers fidgeted as he stared at the poster, his face showing an emotion the other two couldn't really understand. "What happened to him?" Tommy swallowed, hands still intertwined with one another.
"Ah," Ranboo huffed, flipping over the poster so he could face it. "He went missing along with one of his friends. Freddie, his name is I think? I'm almost certain they are correlated with Lostfield."
Tommy took an uneven breath and looked at the two, "excuse me a moment, I need to use the toilet." He said, stepping over to the door to leave. Just as he was rounding the corner that lead down the stairs, he poked his head into the room.
"Where's the bathroom?" He asked with a timid grin.
"Downstairs to you left," Ranboo answered. Him and Tubbo watched as Tommy left, hearing his feet step down the stairs.
Tubbo immediately turned to Ranboo, meeting his gaze, "Suspicious, I tell you," He says. "He knows more than what he's leading on! Why would he be so uncomfortable on this topic? I get it's scary, but it happened years ago. Me and you don't even feel a smidge fear when it comes to this stuff, while Tommy's palms sweat in the anxiety. His eyes were wide when we spoke about that poster, you know."
"I guess," Ranboo sighed. "I just feel bad, we're pressuring him." He spoke, setting the poster down onto his bed.
"But that's how you get answers, Ranboo! Pressure, pressure, and more pressure. We'll get something out of him, surely!" Tubbo insisted, storming towards the poster and snatching it from the bed. He gestures his hand towards Thomas Gold's face. "You can't tell me the resemblance isn't pitch perfect, Ran."
"'Guess you're right." Ranboo shrugged, crossing his arms.
"God— I'm more invested in this than you now. Why are you so standoffish about this?" Tubbo expressed slight frustration in his demeanor.
"I just- I don't want to point fingers right now. I feel bad for Tommy, what if he really is just scared and you're jumping to conclusions—"
"You must be blind Ranboo!" Tubbo interrupted, his speech a little louder. It was almost a shout.
"Let's drop this, Toby." Ranboo frowned under his mask, eyebrows furrowed. He took his switch from a drawer of his nightstand and went to the doorway. "Cya downstairs." He mumbled before making his way down the steps.
Tubbo groaned as he looked at the poster.
He perked his head through the doorway, "I'm gonna stay up here!" He shouted down the steps. "I have some homework I need to get done. Ranboo I'm gonna use your computer!"
"Okay!" Ranboo shouted back. Tubbo could hear the sound of the switch turning on.
Tubbo then went over to Ranboo's desk where lay his computer. He booted it up and began typing in the search bar.
"Lostfield park history" He typed.
