The Willow Bees

Remember when...
When we discovered a beehive
On our favourite spot
under the Willow tree
You pulled me in your arms
Held me tight
Drowned me in your intense gaze
And said the hive lives for the queen
And went on to say...
I was worth every busy buzzing day
But  you left
And those words kept my mind
As busy as the bees
I forbade my lips from tasting honey
For your words held something sweeter
But oversweetened words eventually lose their essence
I thought my heart stung when you left
But everywhere I go
I still get a taste of honey
And now I think of you like sugar
As I lay under the tree
I watch the bees make honey
