A drop in your stomach. The inability to look someone in the eyes. Shame and disgust swirling around in your mind. Regret. A familiar word; a familiar feeling. We have all felt its claws wrapped around our throat, some more than others.

The disappointment in her emerald eyes, the pain in her jaded heart. Betrayal, anguish and rage set her soul on fire. How could a person be so callous?

Her sorrow brought her to her knees. Her ear-piercing, head-splitting, heart-shattering woeful cries could be heard for miles. Screams of distress stir the pot of regret that was set deep in his stomach.

He told her he'd love her forever. He lied! He said he'd never leave. He lied! He said he wasn't like the others. He lied! His lies sending her into a spiral. A burning desire to hit him set her on fire. A fire so monstrous, so heinous, full of amber flames scorching anything in its sight. How could he do this to her?

The cyclone that was her thoughts continued to rage on. Her wrath was something he wouldn't want to deal with. Yet, he was the one to let the beast out of its cage. He unlocked the gates of hell and she would bring hell-fire down upon him. She'd set him alight with her pain, torture him with her cries. May guilt and regret bear their mark on his skin, may everyone see his crimes.

He stands there, innocent look on his face, eyes full of pain. He looks down and sees her kneeling there on the dirty ground, hands clutching her chest while tears stream a river of misery down her face. Her eyes once bright now soulless. Her crimson hair planted a wrathful halo around her head. Both of their true colours showing on display.

Unable to bare this sight and unable to endure the torture of hurting the girl he claimed to love most. He turned. Rapid steps shook the ground, hopeful that this would ease his own pain. He knew he'll forever regret this.

Regret.

May the world forever see your biggest mistake.
