12. First Date Part II

***WAI'S POV***

"Sure, I'm in for anything that makes you happy. Want this day to be special."

We leave the mall and the moment we get in the car I feel like I can breathe again. I'm glad he changed his mind, I would've handled it until the end because, with so many things that may go wrong in the future at least, I want this first date to be one of our happiest memories.

But the truth is that I'm not comfortable yet being out, because of many things: my family, school, and society in general. 

He gives me the address of the said place and I drive there. He is busy texting someone and although it is bothering me because he is really into it, I'm not that immature. So I ignore it and focus on driving. 

"We're here. Isn't this a bit far from our dorm?" I look at him and I'm trying to brush off the bad feelings I have about this, I gotta learn to trust a bit more. 

"Yes, it is but usually Pat brings the whole crew here on the weekends, since it's far from school the environment is very peaceful. To be honest this was the place he found to avoid you and your group." He looks at me and laughs, now I know why we could never find them back then. 

We enter the restaurant and it has a calming vibe, the lights are all ocean blue and the tables are set up to allow privacy to every couple or group. For a day with live music, this seems too empty but he said before that this wasn't popular so maybe that's the reason. The waiter leads us to a table closer to the small stage, the moment we sat - 

"Korn love, is that you? OMG, it is you! Missed you so much!" A random girl comes flying out of nowhere straight to his arms. I watch him hugging her back and I bit my lip trying to keep it cool and not let jealousy take control of me. He is allowed to have friends, isn't he? 

"Babi! Where have you been? Missed you too!" Baby? Excuse sir... I'm still here. 

"Come meet the rest of the group! Do you remember your crush from high school? She's here too, let's go man I'll buy you a drink!" She holds his hand and that's it for me. 

I quietly get up and get ready to leave this place. There goes the idea of the perfect date, if the first date went like this maybe it's a sign. I'm about to start walking when something grabs my arm and pushes me back.

"Where you think you're going angry kitten? Babi, this is Wai. Wai, this is Babi, a friend from high school." Korn takes her hand away and puts his arm around my waist, I slap his hand but he keeps it there. I'm trying to be mad at him! 

"Wait, I've heard his name before! Nice to meet you, you're in the same faculty as Korn?" She's gorgeous and polite, that doesn't help! She's perfect, so maybe his former crush is even more perfect... I should leave. 

"Of course you did, he's the one Pat always teases me about." He looks at me and winks. So I was an inside joke of them? "Babi, can you excuse us a bit? My boy is getting the wrong idea here, I have to make things clear for him otherwise I will lose the husband before the marriage."

"Ok sure, I'll save you both a seat. See ya!" 

I look at him and wonder how the hell he read my mind like that. How could he possibly know what I was thinking? Sometimes I really hate him. 
He takes me back to our table and brings our chairs closer. 

"Who's Baby and how?" 

"I can't believe you're actually jealous! I always thought I was the jealous one. Starting with who is Babi and not Baby, she's a friend from high school. Me, she and Pat were in the same class, but she moved abroad and so we only talk through our group chat on Line, that's how she knows about you, Pat noticed my crush on you before I did. And now moving on to how I know what you're thinking, do you know for how long I have been in love with you? I know that you start biting your lips when you're jealous - you did it every time you saw Pat and Pran together. You lock your eyes on the ground when you're fighting anxiety or avoiding to cry. Also, you tend to leave when you're feeling like a burden to people, you did that so many times during practices. "
