"JOSH?" (F/N) CALLED out, unsurely walking into the room. "J-Josh?"
The male wasn't to be seen. But it was clear he had not let himself go, as the pole was scratched by something bigger than Josh, much bigger, with claws. Worry began to build in her stomach as her voice grew in volume, "Josh!?"
"(F/N)?!" The voice that responded to her shout was not Josh. It was Chris.
"Chris?" She furrowed her eyebrows, spotting an intimidating figure with a large weapon standing behind her friend, "What is going on?"
Her friend didn't answer her, instead, he questioned, "Where's Josh?" He looked paranoid, he was tense, shaking, and looking everywhere in the room.
"I-I don't know, he just...I left the room for a minute and he disappeared." She stammered, her eyes pinned to the stranger who only got closer. Her heart was pounding in her chest. Who was that? Why did he have a weapon?
"We don't have time for this." The stranger cut in, his eyes raking the tree line in front of the building.
"Who is this, Chris?" (F/N) blurted.
"He's—"
"Shh! Quiet!" The stranger ushered. He raised his hand out like he was trying to calm a fearful animal and warned, "We gotta go. Right now."
"We gotta find Josh—he could still be out there!" Chris urged.
"Ha!" The stranger laughed quietly, turning around to get in the pair's face, "First, the wendigo, he'll render you immobile. And then he strips the skin off of your entire body, piece by piece."
(F/N) tried her hardest not to back away from the man, "Chris, what the hell is going on?"
"There's some," Chris struggled as he tried to pick a word, "thing trying to kill us. He's an expert on them."
"And then," The stranger continued like he hadn't been interrupted, "And then he keeps you alive and aware and feasts on your organs, one piece at a time."
"What the fuck?" She whispered, looking between the two men.
Chris looked over the empty room and begrudgingly gave in, "So, the Lodge, then."
"Let's go now," The stranger approved, starting to make his way out of the building, "It may still be near." Chris was tense as he followed the stranger, shotgun in hand. (F/N) was trying not to pass out from fear.
"Wait!" The stranger abruptly stopped in his tracks. "Don't...move...Be very quiet." After a few seconds of standing painfully still (quite literally not moving a muscle), the stranger ordered, "Run! Go! Now! Now!" And broke out into a sprint.
But before they could make it to the path leading to the lodge, something jumped out in front of them. It was tall, but it was on its fours, resting on long, thin limbs as it appeared prepared to pounce.
