Tommy's POV
I heard my door creak and opened my eyes slowly to see Wilbur standing in the doorway. Y/N, was no longer in the bed with me, so I figured she had left to give me and Wilbur some privacy, "Can I come in?"
"Sure," I say.
"How are you holding up, boss man?" Wilbur asks me as he sits on the edge of the bed.
"I'm feeling a little better,"
"That's great," he smiles slightly. "Tommy, can I confess something to you?"
"Of course, Wilbur, what's going on?" I ask him.
"Well, I just wanted to confess to you that I'm the reason that George left," he states quietly.
"What do you mean you're the reason Gogy left?" I ask him.
"We got in a small disagreement shortly before you and Y/N arrived," Wilbur looked up at me. "He was upset with me, that's why he left."
"What were you two disagreeing about?"
He took a deep breath and continued, "He...he made a confession to me, a horrible confession. If you would have heard it...you would have been so heartbroken and I didn't want you to feel that way, so I fixed it, or at least I thought I did. When George left and I told you that he had lied to you...I...I regret every fucking minute of it."
"What did he confess to?"
Wilbur sighed and hung his head, but then as if gaining confidence he looked back up at me, "He admitted to having a crush on Y/N,"
"Oh," I say quietly. What did I expect him to say? What else would Wilbur have gotten that upset on my behalf about? I should've known it included Y/N, one way or another, I should have known? Then again, maybe I always had a hunch. I may have known from the start. The way he complimented her during the trip consistently. The way he layed his head on top of hers, even though he knew she was my girlfriend. The clues have been right in front of me. Why didn't I see them sooner? How was I so blind? "Why are you deciding to tell me this now?"
"Someone important told me that I needed to stop crying like a little bitch, get up, dust myself off, and keep going. They told me that if I really wanted to be a friend to you, then I would stop being a 'tit' and talk to you. That I would tell you the truth and be there for you. And that I would stop avoiding you because I was being a pussy by not doing so. They told me to get my ass up, come in this room, and talk to you. They said that's what brothers do. That they are there for each other no matter what and that I needed to be there for you because you needed me more than ever."
I smiled at him and he pulled me in for a hug, "I hope you're okay big man,"
"I feel a lot better now that I know," I smile. "One question though."
"Sure, what's up?"
"What exactly did you say to him?"
"I told him that he was wrong and that it would be better for all of us, including you if he just stayed away," Wilbur says quietly.
I once again pull him into a tight hug, "Thank you for taking up for me big brother."
For once he didn't make a smart comment to me calling him that, he didn't even make a face, "You're welcome, Tommy. You're my little brother, that's what I'm here for."
We shared another hug and then I sat back, "Where's Y/N?"
"She's probably downstairs somewhere," he says. "I can go get her for you."
"Could you?" I ask. "I want to thank her. I know she was the one who gave you that advice."
"I'll be right back," he smiles and walks out. He comes back about twenty minutes later with a worried expression. I quickly assumed for the worst, "What's wrong? Where's Y/N? What's going on? Is she okay?"
"Tommy, I don't know," he says.
"You don't know?" I ask. "You don't know what? Where is my girlfriend?"
"Tommy, calm down," says Wilbur. "I'm sure she just went out to get something. She'll be back soon, I promise. Just lie back down and try to get some rest."
"Okay..." I whisper. I lay my head back on my pillow as Wilbur walks out of the room. I decided to ring her, but it just went to voicemail. Her voice played in my ears...not just hers...ours.
"Hi, it's Y/N L/N-,"
"And big man Tommyinnit!"
"Sorry I couldn't make it to the phone right now, I'm a little busy at the moment, but leave a message after the beep," says her voice.
"Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep," my voices shout.
"That's not how it works, Tommy," she giggled and the voicemail cuts out to the pre-recorded audio message. I loved that she had set that to her voicemail. It made our relationship even more official and showed how important it was to her. It showed me she wasn't ashamed of me. I knew she loved me. I knew that she would never hurt me, but then, why did I feel like something was wrong. She had never left in the middle of the night without telling me why. Something was off.
After about an hour and forty-five minutes, I decided to go downstairs. I was halfway down when I heard voices. I heard Wilbur's voice first.
"...helpless he really was. If so, congratulations, but now the party's over. So leave." I could tell he was angry, but I didn't know who he was talking to. A few minutes later I heard the front door close. I decided to see what was going on.
"Oh, hey, big man," says Wilbur. His mood switched from -1 to 100 in a matter of seconds.
"Hey, Wilbur," I say softly. "What's going on? Who were you talking to?"
"Oh, that," he says. "Don't worry about it. It was nothing important. There's nothing you have to worry about. Nothing at all."
He smiled and pulled me back up the stairs and back to bed, "Sleep well, Tommy."
"Good night, Wilbur," I say.
"Good night,"
Seconds later I was fast asleep. Dreaming of my future with my lovely wife, Y/N.
