It was the Thursday before Amao's picnic, and Ayato was walking home from school. His shift was supposed to start today, and although he wanted some spending money, he didn't really want to work for it. But, he got home, and then got dressed in his normal clothes, consisting of jeans and a collared shirt and sweater, and then walked to his destination.
When he arrived to his place of work, he took in the details. Although the building was slightly out of the way, it was formal on the outside. It had a professional aura to the details of the palette.
"Hello there? Welcome! Seat for one?" A waitress asked.
"No, I'm a part-timer. I'm starting today." Ayato answered back.
"Ah! Aishi-san right? Lemme get you introduced. So why'd you pick up a job here Aishi-kun?" She inquired.
"Just for some spending money."
"Heh, that's why I started too!" She smiled at him.
While walking, she brought him to the locker room, and showed him his locker.
"Well here it is, it's not much but it's alright for the job. So what size do you wear Aishi-kun? I'll grab you a uniform." She asked him while turned towards the door.
He answered her and she soon left to get his size. He opened his locker and admired the space. It was a good size, a double wide and floor length. It had a bar for hanging clothes and a shelf on the door, and atop the the bar for in reach stuff.
Ayato's attention turned to a knock on the door, and the waitress and another person opened it.
"Aishi-san, this is Manager Shin, he can help you out before I give you the basics. I've got to go back to work, see ya!"
"It's nice to meet you sir. Thank you for the opportunity." Ayato blankly shook his hand.
He reached his hand and shook Ayato's.
"Thanks for applying, you said you turn 18 soon?" He inquired.
"Yes."
"How soon, if I may ask? I need to know for employee requirements." He said.
Ayato told him his birthday, and he nodded his head. Ayato slightly wondered why his manager was asking for this, but he brushed the question away.
"Well, I'll let you get dressed, and then I'll tell Hana-chan to show you around. That's the girl who brought you in, she's a second year in the college around the street. Good luck on your first day Ayato-san." Manager Shin said, while halfway out the door.
Ayato just started to change for his shift at work.

The butler uniform was well-fitted, but a bit tight in certain places. Although it slightly contracted his movement, it wasn't terribly tight. As he walked out, he tied the white apron around his waist, and fully walked out of the locker room.
"Wow Aishi-kun!" He turned around.
It was Hana-san.
"That uniform looks great on you! I thought a medium might be too small on you but it fits better than I thought it would. Well, you wanna get started then?" She asked, grabbing an un-used notepad for Ayato.
"This is yours now, it's what you'll take your orders on, and Ill show you the code for everything in a little bit. Right now, you can shadow me when some customers come in. Okay?" She said quickly.
Just before Ayato could answer, the door bells rang through the shop, and Hana made her way towards the front.
"Hiya! I'm Hana, table for two?<3" She said, emphasizing her high voice and making it cuter with her speech.
Two boys around Hana's age both blushed, and nodded in agreement. She brought them both back to a table and started their drink order, then explained who Ayato was.
"Nya, this is Ayato-kun!! He's my shadow, so he'll help with orders and bussing tables. Please take care of us!!<3" She exclaimed cutely.
The two boys nodded, blushes still prevalent on their faces. One was staring at Hana-san, although she looked used to it, the other was slightly ogling at Ayato and his uniform.
Right after the two servers walked away, Ayato heard the beginning and slight tail end of a conversation between the two customers.
"I told you!! Everyone here is so hot! What I wouldn't give to have that waitress sit on me. But I saw you lookin' at the noob..." and then soon after they chuckled to themselves.
However, his attention was brought back to the kitchen. Hana was explaining what the code meant for their drink orders, and when they ordered food, she'd tell him those next.
"Um, Hana-san, may I ask you something?"
"Just did 'Yato-kun, kekeke, but sure, what's up?"
"Are you used to the way people talk about you here? Those men were talking about us. More so you, I believe." He said, slightly looking back to show which table he was talking about.
She seemed to be in deep thought, before she finally answered his question.
"Well, you get used to it, but it never gets easier. Every so often, someone will say something and I snap, but I hope it won't bother you too much 'Yato-kun, you shouldn't be in the business if it does." She said, as if she were a mother to Ayato, and taking him under her wing.
"...I see. Thank you." He answered back.
The two soon after returned to the table with the two men, taking their food orders. The one who frequently had his eyes on Hana was reaching towards her dress, but before he could pull it she slapped his hand away.
"Customers can't touch the merchandise! Teehee!!<3" She said, though her face was smiling, he tone sounded like she was seething with rage.
With the boys thoroughly intimidated, and their orders taken, the two servers went to report to the kitchen.
"How rude! How imprudent! How...trashy!!! I hate customers like them! But, god, I cant just yell at them! Look, 'Yato-kun, promise me you'll help the girls who can't protect themselves from customers like that? I cant always be around, and well, you're a well-built guy and you're intimidating, I mean, your pecs are busting through your shirt! It's, a little weird but whatevs!"
Ayato just squinted his eyes, and nodded in response.
'Okay, I'll help them, as long as you never mention my chest ever again.'
"I can protect myself, but my cousin works here too, she's not exactly like me. She gets anxious, and she doesn't really speak up for herself, can you help her if she gets in trouble? Please." She pleaded.
Ayato, not trusting his voice after the chest comment, just kept his mouth shut and nodded again.
'Seriously, what's wrong with my chest??'
