When you woke up the next morning your room was a disaster and you felt like shit. You'd obviously had some nightmare based on the overgrowth of your plants but you could not for the life of you remember what about. You weren't sure if that was comforting or not. Maybe the plans to go to the mall were stressing you out more than you'd realized.
Maybe it would be best to cancel, you thought, reaching for your phone. No, I'm gonna have to leave eventually. I'll be with friends. Friends who happen to also be heroes in training and can handle any dangerous shit. You did your best to keep your anxiety at bay and push any negative thoughts to the side as you got ready for the day.
Even though the nightmare hadn't woken you up you still felt exhausted, putting your plants back into the proper level of growth didn't even give you the sort of energy boost you'd been hoping for. And obviously, it showed based on how Bakugou greeted you as you made your way out the dorm building doors.
"You look like shit."
Kirishima looked at his friend exasperated. "C'mon man you don't say that to people!" Then he turned to look at you apologetically, "He's not wrong though."
You sighed, falling into step between the two boys as you all made your way to class, "I know, I know, I slept really bad is all."
"Stay up late finishing the homework?" Kirishima asked.
"Not really," you admitted, worrying your bottom lip. You were trying to be more open and honest, especially with your closer friends letting out a soft breath you continued, "I just, um, had a nightmare is all."
Bakugou was giving you a look you couldn't decipher.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Kirishima asked.
"No," you answered quickly. Besides the fact that you didn't really remember this particular nightmare, you weren't quite ready to share that much yet.
You were relieved when the boys gave you quick sympathetic but understanding, not pitying, looks before continuing on with a different topic of conversation. You knew a little about the events the class had gone through their first year so you were sure they each had their own share of nightmares keeping them up. And that was beside the fact that hero work, in general, must take a toll. You couldn't help but feel grateful that they were open to listening to you but never pushed you much more than what you were willing to admit. The thought serves to help solidify your resolve to go to the mall with them the next day.
When you told your plans to Aizawa after class, asking if you had permission to leave, you had to fight the urge to squirm as he studied you for a minute while he thought. You weren't sure if you were more worried about hearing a yes or a no.
"Have fun." Was all he told you after a minute, before sending you off with the 'okay' paper to leave.
Even though his approval meant he thought it was safe enough for you to leave the campus, your anxiety did not seem to want to leave you.
"Hey, y/n." Ouijuro greeted you when you walked into the dorm building, making you jump, "Ah, sorry, I didn't mean to startle you." He rubbed the back of his neck. "Mina mentioned you hadn't finished your English work, we're doing a group work session if you want to join."
