A/N: Happy birthday to the gremlin! im posting an extra chapter in honor of the special day
(this was not planned but i think i have enough prewritten to get away with it)
There was fire around you.
Your legs felt wet? Why? Water? No, too thick. Oil?
No, no, no .
Shadows circle around in your periphery and you're Screaming. Screaming . Enough that you taste pennies in your mouth but there's no sound. Why weren't you making a sound? They needed to hear you - to stop-.
All you could hear was a drip, drip, drip. And then you're taking a step forward but falling backward at a tug on the back of your shirt. And you're falling. Falling. Falling .
The metallic taste in your mouth is replaced by the unmistakable earthy taste of dirt and you're clawing at the nothingness above your fingers as you feel clods of dirt and rock start to cover you struggling to find purchase on something anything. Then -
Your eyes snapped open. Your breath came in heavy pants as you took in your surroundings. You are safe. It's okay. You are not with her . You wiped away the tears.
Sure, your room looked like a scene out of The Jungle Book but at least you weren't there. With them. The nightmares had only gotten worse since Aizawa had told you about his escape and her possible one. He hadn't confirmed that they had anything to do with the rock slide at training that day but you couldn't shake the fear that somehow they had and that overthinking anxiety was only adding fuel to the fire.
This nightmare had been especially vivid.
You took a second and held yourself. Ground yourself. Before sitting up slowly and going around methodically shrinking all the plants you caused to overgrow back to their natural level of growth, before collapsing back into bed. Grabbing your phone you checked the time, 5:47. I hope I didn't wake anyone up. You worried your bottom lip.
The sky was still dark, though starting to turn into a dusty blueish purple colour as if it was making preparations for the early morning sun's arrival.
You stand up, stretching as you pad around your room, every soft thump of your foot against the hardwood helping to ground you, reminding you where you were and what you were doing to make up for what you had done. Sliding on slippers and grabbing a hoodie you headed out of your room in favor of walking outside with the potential of seeing the sunrise from a better view than your west-facing window.
You were surprised when you spotted a familiar ash-blonde sitting at the dining room table as you made your way out.
"Did I wake you?" you asked, already apologetic.
He looked up at you confused. "No, I've been up."
You nodded, relieved, and continued your path out the door, surprised when he called after you.
"Where are you going?"
Perhaps, if it wasn't so early, or if your throat hadn't already felt scratchy from imaginary screams, you'd have made some joke about him showing he cared instead you just responded in an almost whisper, even though there was no reason for that. "I'm going to find a spot to watch sunrise," Before you can think yourself out of it you continued, "Do you wanna come?"
You were honestly surprised when, after a quick moment of deliberation, he slid his chair out and walked toward you, the two of you making your way outside.
