THE ROYAL NABOO STARSHIP I STOOD aboard pulled out of hyperspace, and Coruscant's sight came into view, glowing due to the amber city. I absorbed the feeling of being back home and took a deep breath to clear my mind. I had been tasked to be Padmé's Jedi escort to Coruscant from her homeworld of Naboo, with all the controversy swirling around the recently founded Separatist Senate and the Military Creation Act.
Two years ago, a former Jedi Master by the name of Dooku delivered the Raxus Address. The Raxus Address was a speech that was credited with essentially setting the stage for the Separatist Movement. Dooku denounced the Galactic Republic as a futile enterprise that was hopelessly burdened by corruption and favoritism toward the Core Worlds.
And following the address, Dooku founded the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and thus ensued the Separatist Crisis where thousands of star systems left the Republic and joined the COIS.
