3rd Person P.O.V

The kitchen smelled like cookies. Mom and daughter were baking some, while singing happily. However, the girl stopped and looked down, hesitant. Her mom cleaned her hands and lifted her daughter's face.

-"What's wrong honey?"

-"Mommy... Can I ask you a question?"

-"Of course, my girl! What is it?"- She smiled

-"Why... Why is everyone afraid of me?"- Y/N looked at her, sad

That took Iris by surprise. She sighed and signaled the girl to sit down, and she sat in front of her. Careful to choose the correct words, she spoke softly -"People are afraid of things they don't understand, Y/N, and your eye, your beautiful eye, is one of those things. They are afraid of not knowing the reason why you're not like them. But know this: No matter how selfish, how rude they are, you should never let their words affect you. Because they don't even understand what they're judging, okay?"

-"But mommy"- She lowered her sight -"Girls at school are very close, and I want to have a good friend too. Do you think they'd accept me if I uncovered my eye?"

Iris sighed and put her hand on her daughter's shoulder -"It is better not to reveal your secret to anybody. But you can play with them as long as you're wearing your eye patch"- She smiled

-"Will I ever be able to take it off in front of someone?"

The woman's eyes widened. It was true. Was there someone out there who could understand her dear Y/N? Who could be with her? Or was her beloved daughter destined to be alone? What was going to be happen when her life was taken away from her? Was Y/N to be a solitary girl then?

Iris cupped Y/S's face in her hands -"Listen to me my girl. Yes, someday, you will find someone who will accept you just like you are, and you'll be able to be your true self with him. You must do everything to protect and stay by his side, just like he will do, then, you'll be inseparable. Someday, you'll meet that special person. Just be patient my Y/N. Okay?"

The girl's eyes shone, and she smiled -"Yeah! I'm so excited to meet him!"

Iris chuckled -"It's gonna be awesome indeed"

-"So mommy?"

-"Yes?"

-"Is that person going to be like daddy for you?

The woman smiled -"Yeah"

-"Oh yeahhhh, now I'm super duper excited!"

-"Just as it should be. But again my girl, patience"

-"Oh, right"- She chuckled

-"Well, enough talking and more eating. Who wants cookies?"- Iris went to the oven and grabbed the cookie tray

-"Me! Me!"- Y/N followed her as a puppy 

-"Alright then, eat all you want!"- She put the tray on the table

The girl jumped and sat right in front of it -"Thanks for the food mommy! You're awesome!"

Iris chuckled -"Of course I am honey!"

The girl opened her eyes slowly, finding herself staring at her hood. The nurses hadn't taken it off because she defended herself with all she had, even if her back felt like burning. She didn't want anyone knowing her secret for any reason, including her health. Otherwise, she would be attacked and judged. Probably even threw out of there as an animal.
