"Well that was unexpected" Jake grunted, a fake laugh escaping from his mouth
We were now on our way home as I filled him in on what had happened earlier
"So what are you gonna do now?" He asked, looking at me as his hand landed on my shoulder
I looked down on the concrete we were walking on as I was troubled of our current state
Part of me wants to think Dustin is just tricking me but part of me also thinks I should give him a chance
A chance at his "truce" as he says it
"I don't know" I said in all honesty as Jake noticed my sudden troubled expression
"That's it? A war freak like you being in a truce? Isn't that quite unexpected" he said, a light hum leaving his lips as it curved into a small grin
"Your words hurt you know" I said which made him laugh
"I may be blunt but you know it's true" he said, proud of his own words
"I know, that's why it hurts more"
His nonstop blabbering was not new during our little way back to our houses but it sure is annoying today
As we got closer into our neighborhood, we came to stop at a familiar store to grab a couple cans of soda(and possibly beer) and candies
There's nothing wrong with Candies at our age
Just a guilty pleasure if you ask me
We were greeted by the same nice lady that manages this humble grocery
She smiled at us as she said her usual greetings, "Hello Richard, buying the usual?" She asked as I nodded
We made our way into the small aisle as we grabbed the same gummies and candies
We turned to go towards the refrigerator as we took out cans of sodas and snuck in some beer
Jake and I was satisfied with our little shopping as we got to pay our items
Mitch scanned them as she placed them inside of green plastic bags that has the store logo on it
"Beer again? Stressful day?" She asked as she saw eight cans, four each for the both of us
"You can say that" I said, a troubled smile plastering my face
"I can't judge you, high school is rough as well in my times. Just don't make drinking a hobby okay?" She said as she finished bagging our stuff
I payed for our items as I said "Yeah, Don't worry"
I smiled at her as both Jake and I left the store and continued on our way
"You're drinking all by yourself?" He asked as we were nearing my house
"Yes" I answered as I was unlocking our gate
I waved goodbye to Jake as he did too before walking a few distance more to his own house
Our house was not fancy nor extravagant
It has a small fence (probably on the same level as my chest) and some bushes on the front
The exterior is painted white with a pathway leading to our small porch
On the right was our garage and on top of that is my room. The main house is on the left with a small garden upfront and a rectangular pool on the back
I made my way on the set of wooden staircase on the side of the garage leading up to my room
