Dex froze, his eyes flitting to Marella and back. "Uh-uh- I uh... maybe we should--"
Keefe laughed. "Um, I'm with Dex on this one."
Sophie hid behind her hair. "Me too," she blushed.
"Don't worry Foster, we all know you're hopelessly in love with me."
Fitz glared at Keefe. "We do?" he asked pointedly.
Keefe tensed a little, but relaxed. "We do. Where ya been living- under a rock? Trust the Empath on this one," he smirked.
"Keefe!" Sophie cried, her heart pounding.
"Fine fine fine. If you have to know-"
"I think we've gotten wayyy off-topic," Linh saved Sophie.
Thanks, Sophie transmitted.
Anytime, Linh thought back.
"Are you two done? We still have to deal with the whole Tam scenario." Marella said. "Also Linh-did you have to interrupt them? I was curious to see if Sophie would finally get over her obliviousness. Apparently, that's too much to ask?"
"WHAT OBLIVIOUSNESS???" Sophie shouted.
"See what I mean?" Marella said to Ro.
"Oh yes. We all do," the ogre princess grumbled.
"I TAKE IT BACK, I TAKE IT BACK!!" Dex shouted.
"Fine," Tam sighed.
"Okay, new--" Biana started when Mr. Forkle burst through the door.
"It's the Neverseen, " he panted. "They've attacked Havenfield."
Sophie sat there, stunned.
Edaline! Her mind screamed. Grady!
Without a word she sprinted for her coat, which had her home crystal in it.
"Whoa whoa whoa. Slow down, Foster." Keefe grabbed her arm. "I'm coming too."
"Looks like Funkyhair and I are going," Ro said grimly.
"Count me in," Fitz added.
"And pretty boy."
"And me!" Biana shouted.
"Sparkle girl too."
"Were you leaving me behind?" Dex asked, offended.
"Guys! Stop! My parents..." Sophie's words strangled into silence.
"I got them. Hurry, Foster." Keefe smiled sadly at her, and Sophie realized it was his mom.
"Keefe-"
"Go Sophie!"
Her eyes widened. He never called her Sophie unless it was important.
She nodded, and leapt away with Mr. Forkle behind.

When they arrived, the sight that met Sophie's eyes made her fall to the ground.
"NO!" she screamed. "NO!!"
