Breaking point

It has been a quiet ride for the most part. The sun was about to come out any second now and Steven was yet to show any sign of waking up. -"Steven." I poked his arm which made him slightly move. -"Steven." I now gave him a slap across his face in hopes to wake him up.

His eyes bursted open and sat up straight. -"Oh, man! How long have I've been out?"

-"Long enough." I said as I stopped the car. I needed a change of clothes. I got out of the car and opened the back door, taking the bag that was on the seat. -"Are you good to drive?" I asked once I got a change of clothes out the bag.

Steven got out of the car in a rush and headed to the other side of the car where I was. -"Should be alright."

While Steven looked around the desert I took the opportunity to take my dress off; given that time he saw me naked he had a terrified look on his face. I put on the pair of shorts I had found that miraculously fit me, a bit tight but quite nice, must be Layla's. Once I was done zipping up the shorts I looked back up to see Steven with his eyes wide staring at me. -"Oh, sorry. Didn't know you were naked." He was quick to turn around as he passed his hand through his hair.

I chuckled, -"Steven. I'm not naked, stop being dramatic." I said as I put on a shirt and made my way back inside the car. -"Come on, you're driving." I closed the door and Steven got in the driver's seat in no time.

I reached down to take off the shoes I had on while Steven started up the car again. I grabbed one of the shoes and brought it out the window, shaking the sand off of them. -"Gross." I mumbled as I took the other shoe and did the same thing.

Once I put the shoes back on I rested my head on the side. I was tired. Not just physically, but mentally. -"I'm sorry about your friend. He seemed like a lovely fellow."

I moved my head to the side to look at Steven, my only response was the slight smile on my lips; I had much to say but i'm afraid I would just end up crying. The look of uncertainty on his face was clear, just like it was that first time we met. I chuckled as I remember when we said our goodbyes after our date. I definitely thought he was going to kiss me. Maybe I should've kissed him. -"What are you having a laugh about?"

I shook my head as my chuckle turned into a nervous laugh. -"Nothing, I- I was just thinking about something." I waved my hand in dismissal, hoping he wouldn't press the matter.

-"Come on, love. We have a long way to go, might as well talk and have a few laughs." He took his eyes off the road to look at me. His dark brown eyes made me look at him in awe. He is so cute. I don't get it how Steven can look so cute, yet when I see Marc he looks extremely hot. I can't possibly not tell him when is looking at me with those eyes. -"I was just thinking about that night we met."

His lips turned into a smile. -"That was quite an interesting night, wasn't it?" Interesting? What does he mean by that? The smile on my face disappeared thinking he didn't feel the same way about that day like I did. -"Yeah, it was interesting." I let out a tired sigh as I reverted my eyes to the side to look outside.

-"That was my first date ever." I looked back to him, a hint of embarrassment could be seen on his face. -"Really?"

-"Yeah." Both of us laughed in unison, making me feel a bit better. -"If it makes you feel better, last time I went out on a date was back in the 80s."
