Stay With Me (Ziam)

Prolouge

Liam and Zayn were cuddling in Liam's backyard underneath the stars. They weren't together romantically, but cuddling and being close was normal for them.

Ever since they were five years old they've been best friends. They would hang out everyday after school and if they couldn't, they'd spend hours talking on the phone together. Now they're 14 years old and still can't go a day without being together.

Liam had his head on Zayn's chest with his eyelids slowly opening and closing. He is seconds away from falling asleep in Zayn's arms until he hears Zayn clear his throat.

"Liam" Zayn says in a nervous tone.

"Yeah" Liam looks up at Zayn's face.

"I have to tell you something important, but you can't be mad" Zayn is still staring at the stars. Too afraid to look into Liam's eyes. The eyes he would spend hours looking at because he could get lost in them so easily.

"Okay?" Liam says confused.

"My dad's job is transferring him" Zayn quickly says.

"Why would I be mad about that?" Liam asks.

"Li they're transferring him to America meaning I have to move there" Zayn sadly says.

Liam sits up fast and says "You can't leave. You promised you would never leave me"

When Liam's dad left him and his family when he was only 11 years old, Zayn promised him that he would never leave and that he would always be there for him.

"I know I promised and i'm sorry Liam. I am really sorry but I have to go. I don't really have a choice" Zayn says with a sympathetic face while sitting up.

"You can stay with me. My mum loves you. I'm sure she will let you stay with us. You can sleep in my room" Liam frantically says trying to find a way for Zayn to stay.

"I have to go with my family Liam" Zayn frowns.

"When do you leave?" Liam asks. Hopefully he can have a few more days with his best friend.

"Tomorrow" Zayn says with his head hung low. He feels guilty for not telling Liam sooner.

"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Liam's lip starts to quiver.

"I didn't want to make you sad" Zayn finally looks up to face Liam.

"Does Louis know?"

"I told him a couple of days ago"

Liam looks taken aback before he grows angry over how he was the last to know. "So both of you have been keeping this from me. Why would you lie to me?" Liam can feel a tear fall down his cheek as he starts to stand up to leave.

"Wait Liam, don't leave. I'm sorry for lying, and breaking my promise. Please just stay. We have one more night together" Zayn also stands up and grabs Liam's hand.

Liam let go of Zayn's hand, but instead of leaving, he hugs Zayn as tight as he could. "I'm going to miss you so much Zaynie" He says as he lets his tears run freely.

"I'm going to miss you too Li" Zayn pulls away from Liam after a couple of minutes.

Zayn wipes Liam's tears away with his thumb. He wants to cry too, but he stays strong for Liam.

Zayn doesn't know what came over him, but the next thing he does is pull Liam's face closer to his and eventually pressing their lips together.

Liam stayed still for a second not comprehending what was happening but quickly kisses Zayn back. After half a minute, Zayn pulls back and leans his forehead against Liam's.

"I've always loved you Li" Zayn says with his eyes closed.

"I've always loved you too"

Soon enough, the young boys end up falling asleep outside in the cool summer night. Zayn holding on to Liam knowing that this was going to be the last time they could be together for a long time.
