When I was young, I didn't have many friends. The only ones who liked me a bit would consider me a 'spare friend'. I didn't know what it was like to have a best friend.
Until the day a new boy came to my school. He was from Korea and didn't speak our language. Despite that, we got along very well and I taught him the language. His name was Hyunjin.
From the moment he spoke our language well, all the girls started thinking he was super handsome and he became very popular. Thanks to him, I learned to make friends and to be less shy.
He and I only had boys friends. We were kind of the group of 'boys everyone crushed on' at school. I was the girl of the group. We didn't want another girl, since they all ended up declaring their feelings to one of the boys. At that time, I didn't really understand why I wasn't like those girls, why none of the boys appealed to me.
Some time later, Hyunjin's parents decided to return to Korea. We were all very sad. We wanted to continue seeing each other, but it was too complicated with the time difference.
I made this promise "When I grow up, I will learn Korean and I will meet you in Korea."
After that, I started making friends other than boys. I was friends with a lot of people and ended up becoming the popular girl in school.
It was when I was 14 that I understood why I hadn't fallen in love with boys at that time, I was a lesbian.
I like girls.
