1918
It had been over a year since Logan had returned to France. It had been just over 19 months since he'd kissed the tears that had fallen from Jemimas face as he'd told her he was leaving.
She didn't expect constant letters. But one at the very least would've been appreciated. Even Tommy had written her a letter.
Now was not the time to focus on that though. They were coming home today. She'd see John and Max and Arthur for the first time in 4 long years, for that she was excited.
There was a certain buzz in the air as she travelled to the station with Polly, Ada and Finn - who was giggling whilst holding onto Polly and Jemimas hands swinging himself as they walked.
"We might be late." Ada says, as men in uniform pass by them, striding away from the station.
"There'll be plenty of trains," Polly responds.
They walk in silence from then until they reach the platform, soldiers re-uniting with their families, some families crying at soldiers that hadn't returned.
"Finn, stay close." Jemima warns, noticing the surplus amount of people, the massive crowds, losing Finn would not be an ideal situation.
"Look, there's Max and John." Ada exclaims, pointing to two young men, both of whom were frantically looking around.
Max spotted the family, whacking Johns arm before pushing their way through the crowd to get to them. Maxs eyes stayed latched onto Jemimas until he was in front of her, pulling her into his arms, "I missed you."
"You've grown," John says to Ada, as he hugs her, "any boyfriends?"
"No," Ada huffs.
"Your aunt doesn't get a welcome?" Polly tuts, and both men smirk at each other before embracing her and picking her up off the floor.
"Hello aunt Pol." They chuckle.
"Put me down." Polly demands, though having a bright smile on her face.
"Hello lad," John greets Finn, picking him up and putting him on his shoulders.
"Look, there's Tommy." Finn says, pointing at his brother, "Tommy! Tommy!"
Jemima was too distracted by the person behind Tommy to even notice he was there. She took off in a brisk walk, ignoring Tommys look of confusion as she passed by him, heading straight for Logan and throwing her arms around him.
For some reason, the thought that she was rushing towards him with that big smile on her face made Tommys heart rate pick up, but then she went straight past him. Of course she did. She hated him. He hated her. He hated that he wanted her. He hated that she clearly didn't want him back.
Logan kisses her temple, chuckling, "I take that to mean you've missed me."
Tommy rolls his eyes, sauntering towards his family.
"Of course I've missed you." Jemima says, taking his hand and walking back towards the Shelbys.
"Logan," Finn grins, holding his hand up for the man to high-five.
"Hello, champ. You're a lot bigger than when I last saw you." Logan says.
"I'm a man now." Finn states, puffing his chest out almost falling off Johns shoulders, being straightened up by Tommy.
