Chapter 9. DIVERGENT

What started out as a horrifying nightmare for Allesandra has rapidly turned into a magical dream ever since she met Blaze at the masquerade party. All of the bad things that had happened to her since she arrived were the furthest thing from her mind. All she can think about now is him, that devilishly, handsome man who has finally brought a real smile back to her face. Not only has he kept her safe, he's showed her another side of herself that is not only surprising, but intriguing.

Blaze is her knight in shining armor and in her eyes, is a perfect man who she hopes has come to save her. Before tonight, she had only dreamed about finding someone like him. For some strange reason, she is drawn to him and he seems drawn to her too. Although he appears to be so perfect, there is also something very mysterious about him. She had seen it in his eyes, they had almost cried out to her to save him back. They had confessed to each other that they felt as though they had met in another lifetime, someplace far away from here and that feeling was very strong, perhaps they had.

As Allesandra starts to get dressed for bed and stands in front of her full length mirror tying her nightgown, she pauses for a few seconds and studies her reflection. It's been such a long time since she's seen herself so happy and had something to smile about. Her mind begins to wander, back to the wonderful night she just spent with Blaze.

That first kiss they shared was special and it still gives her goosebumps when she thinks about how she felt standing there, safe in his arms. Suddenly, she remembers her fall into the fountain and then trembles. When she looks down at her hands and then wiggles her toes, she tries to make some sense out of how she was able to escape without a scratch in the very same water that obliterated the rose and burned Blaze's finger. He was so shocked afterward that it convinces her even more that it had to be something powerful. She was going to keep searching for answers until she could figure it all out, that was for certain.

As she slips into bed, she tries her best to clear her mind. She knows she needs to get some sleep since she has an early morning planned with Blaze and doesn't want to be groggy or appear unrested.

She finally gets sleepy after a couple of hours of rolling around, tossing and turning and trying to get comfortable and then drifts off to sleep, unaware that it would not be for long.

As she sleeps, a real monster from one of her worst nightmares is lurking right above her in her most vulnerable state, patiently waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Allesandra moans and moves around in her bed as if she's having an erotic dream. As he hovers above her, he enjoys it at first and then his face suddenly starts to change from a lustful grin to a scowl, as his jaws clench from her very displeasing display of pleasure. It's evident that he's furious after all of his failed attempts to seduce her.

After he watches her for quite some time, he lowers himself down so that he's almost on top of her and close enough so that he can almost touch her. He closes his eyes and enjoys the air surrounding him filled with her enticing scent. Suddenly, it overtakes him and he can't control himself any longer and he presses his lips firmly against hers and plunges his tongue down her throat.

That immediately jolts Allesandra awake. She violently hits and kicks at him in an attempt to get him off of her. Once he pulls back, she begins to gag and scream out in terror for Blaze.

Infuriated by her response, he inhales deeply and steals the air from her lungs. He watches her gasp for air and flail her arms around, fighting for a breath. She hits his shoulders with her fists over and over and kicks her legs in a raging tantrum to defend herself. But, as he continues to toy with her vulnerability, he maintains steady eye contact with her and sadisticly taunts her as sort of a warning that he could end her now if he wanted to.
