Becky's POV: Austin and I avoided each other and we still are. They stare at us weirdly and shout out random things, bursting into fits of laughter. They seem to be making rumours about us. I'm really worried..

"So.. You and Austin broke up?" Dinah asks.

"We weren't even together." I move away from her.

"But you guys had feelings for each other and you kissed." She stopped me.

"Doesn't mean we dated." I respond.

"Hey, Becky?" she asks, putting her hand on my shoulder.

"It's going to be alright. You have no idea how many times Camila's stolen guys from me."

I turn to find Camila. It takes me a while to find her, but when I do, her eyes are right on mine. A sly grin spreads across her face. Like a cat, Camila climbs up onto one of the cafeteria tables and starts to talk.

"Attention everyone! Especially Becky." She stares at me in her nasty glare.
"Did you know me and Austin are together now? I mean I hope we can remain together?" She gives me a cold, dead look. " He loves me so much, and I love him. We were always there for each other and let's just say we're taking a break. But please, don't steal my Austin."

A chorus of "awws" and sighs arise from the crowd of people. I notice Austin look at his feet, but he doesn't object to Camila's outburst.

I feel my heart burst. I should have known there was no hope for us. I should have known he didn't love me.

"Honey," a voice says, and I feel the stroke of familiar plastic nails against my arms. "I know you love him, but I love my Austy even more."

Then Camila freezes. Austin's behind me. I run to class, which unfortunately is something I share with Austin.

I ignore him. I try not to look at him. I sit down at my desk. And... Turns out he's sitting next to me. Jesus, he is so annoying.

"Becky," he says softly.

No. I'm not gonna answer him. I'm just focusing on the learning.

Austin's POV:
"Mr. Savocelli, I need help." I raise my hand.

"With what?" My teacher raises his eyebrows.

"Love." I look at Becky. She looks shocked. Well, everyone does.

"What is it, Austin?" He asks. He seems bored, as if my question is unworthy.

"I love this girl but it seems like she's mad at me. It seems like she doesn't trust me. And I guess she has the right for that. But I love her, she used to love me. Now she hates me. I'm sad. Plus, she is in this class." I stand up.

"Austin. I don't have time for this. Sit down." Sitting down, I kick the corner of my desk in frustration.

"Wait."

"Yes, Miss Gomez?"

"May I answer Mr. Mahone's question?" she asks quietly.

"I guess..."

"If you love her, don't ignore her. Definitely don't tell her you love a girl, and imply that things were better off before she came." She looks at me emotionlessly, her eyes pale slabs of stone. "And lastly, Mr. Mahone, prove it. Prove you really love her."

The bell rings, and Becky's words leave me cut open.

I try to grab her hand, but she has already slipped away.

Becky's POV:

Austin slips outside into the hallway towards Camila and my stomach churns.

"Oh hey, baby. You wanna come and hang at my place later?"

She kisses him right on the lips and he doesn't fight her. Someone stabs a knife right into my heart with every passing second. I turn away.

"No." Austin's voice is firm, and people start to stare.

"I don't love you. You lock Becky in the janitor's room, you treat her like crap because you think I don't love you. And maybe you're right. After I told Becky that I still loved you, I realized I had to let go of you. I realized that I don't love you. You're a monster, Camila. You hurt Becky, you've broken my heart before, and I don't think I'll ever love you again."

He pushes her away and heads towards me. His eyes gleaming.

"Did I do it? Did I prove it?" The question is poised with hope. The hope of a little kid.

In response, I stare back at him.

"You think that just because you broke up with someone, that'll make me love you? This doesn't change what you did to me. This doesn't change what you said to me."

I turn away and leave.
