Austin's POV: Should I ask Becky out on a date? At the beach? I'm not sure. I mean, that Starbucks thing was a not a date, we were just hanging out that time. I'm gonna call Zach and ask him.

"Hey Zach should I ask Becky on a date?" I ask him over the phone.

"Where?" He wonders.

"At the beach." I shake.

"Sure?" He questions. "But I thought you guys were sorta, um...you know, split."

"Bro, does it look like I care? I wanna yes or no answer." I demand.

"Yeah, I guess. Go for it. But don't act like a pussy when you get rejected."

Becky's POV:

My phone rings, and I place my book down to answer it.

"Yo, Becky. What's up?"

Of course. It's Austin.

"Why do you even care what I'm doing when you don't care about me?"

"Oooh, baby girl. Burn."

"Yeah. Guess you don't need no ice since you're the opposite of hot."

"C'mon, cutie pie. Just look at these abs."

"What? Where? I don't see any," I say as I open up the picture he's texted me.

"Yeah, yeah. Very funny. Anyways, do you, um...."

"Do I what?"

"Do you wanna go on a date?"

I sigh as I flick a piece of hair over my shoulder.

"One chance. That's all I'm giving you."

"Yes!" I hear him yell. I can't help but smile. "I mean, uh...great! Pick you up at 7."

Austin's POV:

With my shaky hands, I knock on the door.

"Hey." I'm so busy staring at my old high tops that I don't notice the door open.

I scratch the back of my neck. "Um...hi," I respond. "I'm so-"

"Hold it, Mahone. Let's just go and get this over with."

She sighs and I lead her to my car.

"Where are we going?"

I've never been so nervous around a girl. I just can't mess this up with Becky. I don't know how I'll be able to go to school everyday and look at her smile without feeling pain go through my chest. I need her.

"Um...just to this beach. They have fireworks around 10 but we don't have to stay that long...if you don't want to, of course."

I hear Becky shuffle beside me as she digs out a tube of lipstick. She pops open the cap and raises it to her mouth.

"Don't." I lay my hand on top of hers. "You're beautiful enough without it." She stares back at me in shock, but obligingly tucks the makeup away.

"Th-thanks."

"No problem."

I love you so much, Becky. If only you could see it.

Becky's POV:

Austin pulls up to a cute, quiet looking beach. He hands me a towel and a pair of sunglasses.

"Wouldn't want those beautiful eyes of yours to get wrecked," he says softly.

Austin's POV:

As the last firework shoots across the sky, Becky leans in closer towards me. Not realizing what's happening around me, I lean closer to her, and let our lips touch. We stay there for a long time, and when she pulls away, she's smiling.

"I'm sorry, Becky. I love you so much."

"I think," she says, "I love you too."

Becky's POV:

And here we are at the beach, my head on his shoulder, his arm around my waist.

"Will you be mine, Becky?"

"Of course."
