Our Broken Promises

Chapter 6

Month has passed and the exam is waving. My whole month was chaotic but fun. My friends often spend their time in our house. As for Vladimir, no signs of him. We didn't talk after that night. Maybe he's still in the process of moving on. I told Tita Veronica that I'll just marry his older brother instead of him but she didn't agree.

"Lapit na ng exam, sana makapasa tayo." Yena sighed.

"Feeling bobo lang? Ang negative mo ha, you're smart kaya." I arched my eyebrow.

To think that she's smarter than me and she's thinking negatively? What the hell is wrong with her? She always got the highest grade and achievement. She can be a dean's lister.

"Hindi ah! Ang baba nga ng mga grades ko." Tanggi nito. Tumaas ang sulok ng labi ko.

"Pa-humble ka pa, tanga." Inismiran niya ako.

She was about to punch me when someone called my name.

"Celeste! Someone's looking for you!" Sigaw ng isa naming kaklase. Napalingon ako at napakunot ang noo.

Lumapit ako sa kaniya at kumunot ang noo. He looks devastated. Nakababa ang mga buhok niya, may eyebags, at nagkakaroon na siya ng bigote.

"What are you doing here?" I asked. Lumingon muna ako sa mga kaklase kong nanonood at hinatak siya palabas at nagpunta sa rooftop.

"You look ugly, Vladimir." I said as I analyzing him.

"I know…" He whispered.

"So, why are you here?" I asked again.

"I've been thinking about this.."

"Thinking of what?"

"About the marriage. It might help me to move on, I think?"

"I don't know, what's your decision?" Tumabi ako sa kaniya at tiningnan ang langit.

"I'll accept the marriage." He said while looking at the sky. I was shocked.

"Wait, are you serious?" Napalingon siya sa akin at seryoso akong tiningnan.

"Yes. Kailan ba ako nagjoke?"

I stared at him. He caught me staring, I looked away. I sighed.

"Fine. I'll tell Mom about this." I turned away and was about to walk when he stopped me.

"Celeste… Can you help me to move on?" I arched my eyebrow when I heard what he said.

"What? I can't help you." Iniwan ko siya at umalis na.

When I arrived at the mansion, Mom and Dad are discussing something in the living room.

"Mom, can I talk to you?" She nodded at bumalik sa pag-uusap kay Dad.

Umakyat na ako at nagpalit ng damit. Lumabas muli ako at bumaba. Naabutan ko nalang si Mom sa living room. Lumapit ako at umupo sa tabi niya.

"Mom, Vladimir accepted the marriage." Sabi ko nang nakatingin sa T.V.

"That's good. Then, I'll prepare your engagement party." Kumunot naman ang noo ko at napalingon sa kaniya.

"What? There's also an engagement party?" Ano pa ba ang binabalak nila nang hindi namin alam?

"Yes, Veronica and I talked about this." Napaawang ang labi ko.

"But Mom?! I don't want to have an engagement party for us!" Nagrereklamo kong sabi. Sinamaan niya ako ng tingin.

"No buts, Celeste. That's final." Ani niya at umalis na. Napasabunot ako ng buhok dahil sa inis.
