On November 6th, 1983, in a small town of Hawkins, Indiana. Where nothing ever happened, and the most hectic thing that was happening were the residence of Hawkins worrying about a Russian invasion. Four boys sat in a basement surrounding a board game. While most would view the game as just that; a game. But to the town of Hawkins the game of Dungeons and Dragons played a much bigger role, and soon the group of boys would realize how much the game of role play and monsters was eating their small town alive.

"Something is coming. Something hungry for blood. A shadow grows on the wall behind you, swallowing you in darkness. It is almost here," Mike Wheeler spoke ominously, to his three friends behind his cladded brown book. Filled to the brim with different campaigns for their party.

"What is it?" Will eagerly asked, from his spot across from Mike.

"What if it's the Demogorgon? Dustin's eyes widened. "Oh, Jesus, we're so screwed if it's the Demogorgon,"

"It's not the Demogorgon," Lucas tried to reason with his friend, while also chucking a throw pillow at their babysitter who was passed out on the couch.

"Harlow! Wake up, you're going to miss the best part of the campaign,"

Harlow slowly lifted her body up from the couch so she was in a sitting position, "Just wait Lucas, you'll be in high school soon enough, and then you'll get to deal with chemistry tests," She rubbed her eyes.

"An army of troglodytes charge into the chamber!" Mike slammed down a monster figurine, Lucas pointing his arms in a "I told ya so" manner.

"Troglodytes?" Dustin said in a "are you serious" tone.

"Told ya," Lucas drawled, making Dustin chuckle.

"From the lack of enthusiasm coming from the both of you, I would say that you woke me up for nothing," Harlow remarked, resting her elbows on her knees.

"You're supposed to be watching us," Mike's face dropped into his signature scolding.

Harlow continued to rub her eyes, "Okay, look, I love you guys, and you guys, besides Nancy and my twin brother are my only friends and you are literal children. But your guy's campaigns take hours," She dragged out the last word.

"But that's what makes it fun," Will smiled, turning back to the game.

Suddenly the room went quiet, Mike's face dropped as he analyzed his friends. "Wait a minute. Did you hear that?" He looked behind him, "That...that sound? Boom...boom...boom!" He slammed his hand against the table. "That didn't come from the troglodytes. No, that...that came from something else. The Demogorgon!" He slammed the figurine on the table, making the boys around him let out loud groans.

"We're in deep shit," Dustin stated.

"Language!" Harlow scolded him.

"Will, your action!" Mike turned to the boy.
