Chapter 4: Eyeglasses

"Hi Mom!"i greeted my mother when i got home and kissed her in the cheek. "Hello dear...how was school?" Ever wonder why parents always ask this question...cause i don't have any idea why they ask. "Uhm...it's fine mom, nothing special""Okay?? I've got a surprise for you Heave!" she smiles and i keep wondering what that could be. Maybe it could be that she has a boyfriend now...or it could be that Hymn, my older brother wants to stay with us...or she and dad could be getting together again. I miss that freak sometimes and dad too. It will surely make this house less lonely if Hymn would stay with us...but i would be guilty then cause i was the one who shooed him away. God knows how Hymn and i fought so hard for this family to stay together...how much begging and tears we gave for it to not fall apart. But everything runs out and eventually...i think mom and dad ran out of love for each other but not for us both. We didn't hate them...we hated their decision. Hymn and i are free to choose who we will stay with and at that time mom will get us both so i forced him to move with dad because it would be sad and lonely for him. He's not angry with me but i know that he feels bad about me just letting him go. Since then, we don't talk too much and never got to be so close again.

I was brought back to reality when mom came down the stairs. She's holding a box and handed it to me.

"Your dad and i were talking last night and i mentioned your eyes to him...so he volunteered to buy you a new pair of glasses" mom was smiling...they remained friends after their divorce and i'm really happy to know he didn't forget he has a daughter. I hugged mom tightly and whispered to her"Thanks mom. I love you. Say thanks to dad too for me."i hurriedly went to my room. I almost cried in front of her...glad i didn't cause she'll get worried. It took me years to move on to the fact that my family's broken but as my dad once told me when i was still his princess...everything happens for a reason.

I placed the box to my chest before opening it. I was surprised at how good dad is at choosing my glasses and the fact that he's an optalmologist may have something to do with that. The glasses are rimless and the temple is colored white and i loved it. Mom loved seeing me wear it when we ate and compliments me a lot. Before i went to bed i dialled dad's number and he only answered on the second ring."Hey dad! Thanks gor the glasses it fits me really well and mom is so happy"i said smiling like a lunatic though i know he can't see me. "Glad you liked it princess"i felt some pain in my heart with that last word...but i swept it away."Night dad""Night princess!I love you." I hang up after that and let myself fall to my bed. I slept with my glasses and hoped for a great day ahead.
