I hear something outside.

...

Howling wind,

...

cracking of branches,

My home lies in the countryside, inhabited and empty. But yet outside I hear something strange.

Faintly the sound of the wind, but almost with a whisper under it.

It is not uncommon for wind to blow by the trees like this, but the wind does not make such a noise.

Whatever I hear under the wind, is not normal.

I peek outside my window,

The wind is howling and blowing violently. It pushes strong and nicely along the treetops, and it is strong enough to bend the pine trees just a slight bit.

Except for one abnormal tree top.

In the midst of all of the trees, there is one pine tree unaffected by the gust of wind.

I stare towards the different types of nature in the dark,

as I inspect my surroundings,

the still tree top seems to almost bend in the opposite direction from the wind.

Within this forest, it gets dark,

The more and the deeper I look within the trees, the more I make out things.

I am afraid to look back to my room, I feel vulnerable when I look away. For some strange reason.

But I finally lay down in the bed, and when I do, I hear a barrage of branches crack outside the window.

...

I feel my heart beating now.

...

looming in from the outside, I see the shadow of a treetop on my blanket. A shadow that has never been there before.

My eyes are shut closed, I do not want to see this shadow. I am clenching my eyes, biting both of my lips.

I can hear something outside my window. Some whisper. Some absolute horrible whisper.

...

A branch is gently knocking on the glass behind my head, as gentle as the wind can carry it.

But I am scared

because I know this is not the wind.
