"Did I hear my name?" A voice called from the doorway. Everyone looked up to see Amy Fleetwood standing there, smiling devilishly. Wrenna gasped and got up to greet her.
"Amy!" She yelled, running into her sister's arms. The two women embraced, and Amy murmured her hellos, asking if Wrenna was okay. Wrenna nodded affirmatively. Stevie and Mick also got up to greet her.
"I didn't know you were coming!" Stevie exclaimed.
"What, and miss all this fun? Count me in! Besides, I've never heard a lot of the backstory before. So what did I miss?"
"Oh, just about two hours' worth of soap-opera level drama." Wolf sighed. "Hi Mom."
"Hi Wolf." Amy smiled. "It was the 80s. Everything was dramatic. Where's the baby?"
"Napping." Wrenna answered. "She'll probably be up soon."
"Good. We can break from all this trauma bonding, Stevie can catch me up on what I missed, you can get Aurora, and Wolf can go get me something to eat."
"What the hell? How did I get that job?" Wolf scoffed.
"Because you and Aurora are the only people I can get away with bossing around out of current company, and Aurora can't drive. Therefore, it's you." She handed him two bills and gave him her order. Lori offered to go with him, and Jessi went upstairs with Wrenna to get Aurora up from her nap. Mick, Stevie, and Amy sat on the lanai, recounting the story up until that point. Amy had many questions, and she was surprised to hear some of the details of the story.
"You know, the crazy thing is, I never wondered who her father was. I don't think I really knew you were dating anyone, I was just excited to have a baby in my life. And then Dad adopted her, and – I just never really stopped and considered that there was someone else out there. It felt like, it had always been Dad." Amy said, after Stevie was finished telling her the story.
"You asked me once if it was me. Do you remember that?" Mick said.
"Vaguely. I think Mom put me up to that. I probably knew it wasn't you. But you were around a lot, so I thought maybe there was a chance. I never knew much about the Eagles, so I never would have guessed Joe. I didn't even know who he was until last summer, when Wrenna told me." She shrugged.
"He wants to know her now. When I went to him last summer and asked him to leave her alone, I also asked if he would come when she was ready. He said he would. I think he realizes now what a giant mistake he made." Stevie told her. Amy paused, eyeing Stevie.
"Are you going to call him?" She asked, finally.
"I'm going to ask Wrenna if she wants me to. But I think we should. I think it's time she heard from him too." Stevie replied. Amy blew out a breath.
"Whew, this is going to be a lot for Wrenna." She said.
"It is." Stevie nodded. "But she needs to know, finally. So that she can stop guessing and thinking no one in the world wanted her to be born. Because that wasn't true."
"Oh it's definitely not – I, for one, was the number one fan of Baby Wrenna." Amy smiled.
"I heard my name, so I know someone is talking about me." Wrenna said, coming out onto the lanai. She was holding Aurora, who was still sleepy. Mick reached for the baby, taking her, and holding her on his lap while Wrenna sat down next to Amy.
"I was talking about how excited I was when you were born. God, I wouldn't go back to being a teenager for any amount of money. But you were a bright spot." Amy explained.
