Gisele's PoV
"I heard you've been having quite a time as the empress proxy. How have you been, Calypso?" I smiled when Calypso raised her head after taking a few sips of her drink.
"And I heard you got hurt. How are you faring? Even though you're half-demon, you should be feeling quite much pain." I shrugged my shoulder before taking a seat on the table.
"There's nothing I couldn't handle. Trust me, being burned alive wasn't that painful. But the process of healing does. Since the empress is back, why don't you take a break? I'm sure the stress doesn't help your condition." I couldn't help but smile at the little bump that is now visible for me to see.
"It's fine. Anyway, did you know that Vargan and a boy named Philip fought because of Kiera? They both had feelings for the princess, but I can see that the princess seems to have feelings for Philip. Vargan couldn't handle the fact that someone dared to take Kiera away from his grasp and almost kill the boy. Luckily I manage to intervene and stop them." Oh- two boys were fighting each other because of Kiera?
I laughed, which annoys Calypso for some reason.
"Ow! What?" I asked while rubbing my shoulder. I didn't know this woman could hit me with such strength.
"This is a serious matter, Gisele." I sighed.
"Don't feel that way. I'm sure the empress will handle this matter with ease. Now, let's go home." I tried to coax the courtesan, but it didn't work.
"I have too much work right now. I will come home once it's done." I sighed.
"The empress is here. We should go home and enjoy our time alone." Calypso gave me a look.
"Our time alone? What do you mean? Have we ever been together alone before?" I gave her a mischievous look.
"Maybe. I guess we did. Huh?" My eyes look down on her belly.
"You're insufferable. Let me deal with this paperwork to leave the office without worrying about anything. You should sit down and wait for me." I nodded before walking towards a couch. As I waited for Calypso, I decided to read a book about the ancient kingdom.
"The ancient kingdom, huh? I know some of the names mentioned in that book. I have to say, some of the facts seem a bit exaggerated, and some were a total lie." I didn't expect to see the devil himself standing before me.
Why does Calypso act like this is a normal occurrence for her?
"You're here again? I thought I told you that I have no desire to be a demon. Now, if you excuse me, I have work to do." Wait- what's going on? The devil sighed before facing me.
"Look at how stubborn your wife is. Isn't she afraid that she might die from giving birth to your child? It would be best if you convinced her, Gisele. Or you might lose her." I- what?
"What do you mean when you said I will lose her if she didn't turn into a demon?" I asked the devil as we went outside from the office.
"Exactly what I mean. Were my words too difficult for you to understand?" The devil was being sarcastic. I wish I could smack my hand on his head; that would be nice.
"You wish you could hit me, am I right? Please- everyone wants to hit me just because I believe in something. Anyway, do you love the woman who carries your child?" I- I don't know how to respond to that.
"You need to make your decision now, or you'll regret it, Gisele. If you love the courtesan, do something. If not, let her be. Why is everyone thinks I'm over exaggerating when I'm only telling everyone the truth about life? Yes, life is full of regrets, but you can prevent that." The devil sounds so wise, yet he's the devil, and his words don't mean anything.
"The truth?" The devil sighed.
"The courtesan is carrying triplets. It is dangerous for a human to carry even one baby, but the courtesan carries three. Do you see the problem now?" I- I don't know what to say.
"Triplets?" The devil nodded his head as he continued to walk across the hallway.
"Do you want to be someone important?" Huh?
"Do you know that your mother aimed to be the ruler of the underworld?" I shake my head no.
"Rona was a promising child of mine, but she decided to fall in love with a human. In the end, she has to suffer because of her stupidity. But luckily, the child between Rona and that human is useful and a talented warrior. But-" the devil turned to look at my head to toe.
"I can see how much you suffer because of your foolishness. I have to ask, why didn't you make use of the demon blood while fighting off the dragon? Are you ashamed of your blood?" I shake my head no.
"Then? Tell me the reason why you hate your origin, Gisele." I- I don't know.
"I- it's not hate. It's just- I am disappointed that my mother didn't even try to search for me. Why does she let me go through all of those pain alone? I was devastated to know that my mother was still alive. All this time, I thought my mother was dead." The devil chuckled.
"You have to admit that demons don't care about their children that much. It's just how we are. Did you expect someone to care about her child? Please- I know that woman too well by now." What does that even mean, though?
Is the devil trying to tell me something about my mother?
"Do you know what kind of woman Rona's mother was? Even I don't know how I ended up getting together with that kind of woman in the first place. I have to blame my lust for everything." I- well.
"Rona's mother was a seductress, a succubus. And I guess that woman did use her powers against me. I was weak back then. Weak enough to let others take advantage of me." Is the devil regretting his decision?
That's rare indeed.
