"Dammit, why?!' Johnnys fist hurled toward the ground in an aimless punch, taking out his frustration. "Gyro was so close to getting better.."

When he first tried to explain what had happened in the hospital room to you, it all sounded like anxiety-riddled jarble and made no sense---and it still makes no sense.

All you could do is stand around and wait for him to pull himself together. You had already offered comforting words, but they went through one ear and out the other. Johnny didn't wanna hear wishful thinking, he wanted to know realistically what was going to happen.

Of course it was the work of an enemy stand, no doubt there. But there were many other things to take into account, like where the user is, and how long the range is. Its not like he could give you a quick history lesson on Stands and expect you to believe him.

He could take you to *that* place to see if you were eligible for one..

No, he won't do that to you nonconsensually, not to mention its way too far back from your current location.

This was a mess, and Johnny's mind was all over the place.

"Hey, Johnny," You called out to him, now standing near a tree right in front of the hospital. Something odd had caught your eye, prompting you to check it out.

"I don't think this was here when we first got here."

A bunch of cuts were left on the poor tree, by the way the inside of them felt, you could garner that they were made with a knife.

Johnny crawls over (he'd been sitting on the grass rather than in his wheelchair) to the scene right beside you. He puts his fingers onto the mark, brushing against your own hand for a split second.

"Its not unthinkable that some gang dropped by and this is what they to mark where they've striked." You comment.

He turns to you and raises an eyebrow.

"It was common in my hometown." You shrug. It didn't particularly scare you, especially considering you hadn't met them yet.

Johnny sighs, and makes his way over to his horse, mounting it and preparing to leave the place. You blink at the sudden action, walking over to see exactly what he was doing.

"Where are you going? You're done visiting your friend already?" You ask. He seemed so adamant on checking on him earlier and yet he just looks frustrated now.

'..I'll be upfront with you. I think someone's trying to harm my friend." Johnny explains. "I can't really explain it but, I can just feel it in my gut."

"I'm gonna go after 'em, so i'm lettin' you know now if you want to part ways before things hit the fan."

There's a pause.

He looks down at the reins he's holding, not wanting to face you (as if doing that will make him unattached). While you stare him right in his face, wavering blue eyes and all. A sigh you'd been holding in finally escapes your chest.

"Do you even know who I am?"

The blonde snaps out of his gloomy front and whips his head towards you. "..huh?'

"I followed you here already didn't I? I'll help you with your friend, but I'm here to learn how to ride if you don't remember."

Johnny's breath hitches, and his grip on the reins tightens, before letting go again. The boy wasn't sure how to respond to that, but he appreciated the honesty.

The jockey nods in agreement. He wasn't really in a position to deny help right now. "Alright, we're a team now then. I'll be teaching you lessons while solving this mystery." It felt a little weird considering he was in the same situation with Gyro but reversed--teaching someone while also participating in the race and dealing with stand weirdos.

"Well? Are you gonna say thank you?" You sass as you mount your own horse.

Johnny scoffs.

"Nope." He says with a smirk before gripping the reins and riding off.

You were cut off before you could respond. A smile crept its way onto your face as you rode behind him, following close behind.

"Get back here Joestar!"
