The issue with taking so long to write a story is that Grey's is moving faster than I am...

After a little convincing, a lunch date is set up with Link and Jo. Amelia is anxious. She's anxious for Betty, to see the teenager with Scout and Luna. To see how she will react to Link possibly having some choice words for her. To see if Jo will get anywhere with helping the girl open up and accept support. She's anxious for herself too. Scared she'll fall head over heels the second she sees Link with their son and she'll forget everything she worked for in standing her ground and turning down those three rings on the beach at Maggie's wedding. She can still smell the ocean air some days.

Arizona spends a few days with Amelia and her children before heading to back to New York, with promises that she'll be back very soon with Sophia, after hearing how desperate little Zola is for a play date. The visit was unsettling for Betty in a good way. It was a good challenge.

"You doing alright chick?" Amelia asks, popping her head around Betty's door.

The teen had undoubtedly settled more over the past week, finding comfort in a slight distance from Amelia. Scout became a buffer, with Betty quickly overcoming her jealousy of the boy.

Betty is scanning herself in her mirror, donning one of Amelia's old dresses, the woman having given Betty access to her bags of old clothes she had in storage. Betty had little problem wearing them. The didn't smell like Amelia after being in a closet for so long, and they weren't reflective of Amelia's style anymore either. Betty didn't feel too encompassed in Amelia's shroud. The pale dress hangs from Betty's frame slightly, and the white cardigan makes her look angelically young, but Amelia still smiles to herself seeing the teen dressed up, even if she looks nothing like the Betty she knows.

"I'm trying to make a good impression," Betty says as Amelia comes into the room. "I don't want them to think I'm some messed up kid."

"They'll appreciate you as your are," Amelia smiles.  "I'm pretty sure it's a jeans and t-shirt kind of lunch."

"So I can take off the dress?"

"You can indeed. I've washed some shorts recently. You can borrow those. It's too hot for jeans."

Betty changes into some light shorts, a band tee and a freshly ironed plaid shirt of Amelia's. This one she has a little trouble with, smelling just like the brunette. Amelia chooses to turn away, pretending it doesn't hurt when Betty douses herself in dollar store perfume to try and ease some of the anxiety.

"Are you sure I look okay?" Betty asks for the millionth time.

"You look perfect Betty," Amelia reassures.

"You can't see any bruises?"

"Everything's faded. But you don't have to hide yourself. We're all doctors."

Betty rolls her eyes dramatically. "You tell me everyday."

The response makes Amelia laugh.

"Because I still don't think you hear me when say I am not judging your body," she says, tapping the teen (who doesn't flinch) on the nose as she perches on the bed.

"Jo has already met you," She continues, making eye contact with Betty through the body length mirror. "Jo has her own ideas of what's going on, and as I said, I need her, and you, here so it's not awkward with Link."

Betty turns around to face Amelia. "Are you going to be okay?," She says strongly.  "He's not... he's not bad is he?"

Betty can't help that her mind goes to the worst places. And when she senses Amelia's anxieties about the man coming to her house, her brain decides that this 'Link' is not safe to be around her precious Amelia. She's protective of her. If Betty can't have Amelia, no one can.
