Note to diehard Twilight fans: while Our Infinite Sadness roughly follows the plot of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight, my series steadily diverges. Descending Star is arguably original work bearing scant resemblance to New Moon, apart from some of the settings and character names. The upcoming novel, Lost Heritage, is almost entirely original work, with few and rare nods to the original series, apart from the central premise that its principal plotline pits shapeshifters against vampires. This series offers a refreshing change, if something new is what you're seeking.
