SEVENTY YEARS EARLIER

Eira sat in the cargo hold of the plane, her legs swinging back and forth as she held an excited smile. She wore a male military uniform that was entirely too big for her; she had a belt cinched around her waist and combat boots.

She was excited to help people. Apparently, they were rescuing the 107th and a specific man named Bucky.

Steve was staring at her from his seat across from her. She had introduced herself with an adorable little hi and the sweetest smile. He found it hard to believe that she was supposed to help with his mission. But Peggy insisted.

Peggy Carter knew Steve Rogers couldn't go alone and she knew what Eira could do. She hadn't been used in any missions even though the lonely girl had been dying to help people.

So Peggy stole her away from her supervisors with the help of Thena. Eira had never been more excited despite the consequences she knew she'd face.

Now she was flying on a plane that was piloted by Howard Stark. He kept flirting with her and making her blush.

                 "If you don't die, beautiful, would you be interested in a late night fondue?" Howard shouted from where he flew the plane; he wondered how he even flew it with all his talking.

                   She blushed as she looked at Peggy who was sitting next to her. The brunette placed her arm around her shoulders. She gave her a questioning look, "Fondue?"

                  "Cheese and bread," Peggy explained.

                    Eira had an oh look on her face (and so did Steve). She looked towards the cockpit and she said politely, "I suppose so."

Suddenly, the plane started taking fire as they flew above enemy territory in Austria. Steve quickly got up and grabbed a parachute; she did the same.

Steve opened the door of the plane as Peggy shouted, "Get back here! We're taking the both of you all the way in."

"As soon as we're clear, you turn this thing around and get the hell out of here," Steve said.

"You can't give me orders," Peggy responded.

"The hell I can't," Steve gave a little smile. "I'm a Captain."

Then he jumped out of the plane and Peggy sighed. Then the woman turned to Eira.

"Bring him back for me, will you?" Peggy asked.

"Will do," Eira said with a small, excited salute.

"And be careful," Peggy shouted as she jumped out of the plane after Steve Rogers.

Eira tiptoed through the forest surrounding the compound. She was next to Steve by the road as they crouched behind a tree. He was surprised at how quiet she was.

A car was approaching and he talked quietly, "This will be our ticket in. Move when I move."

She nodded and she followed after him. They ran and jumped on the back of the van before hopping behind the curtains of the cargo hold. They were surprised to find two HYDRA soldiers but Steve moved quickly, knocking them both out before throwing them out of the back of the van.
