Eira sat on the metal table with a pout. She knew she would be in so much trouble. Atticus was drawing her blood once again as he looked at her scornfully.

         "You were reckless," Atticus lectured.

"I know," she hung her head.

"You will never do it again," he warned.

"I'll never do it again," she promised but her eyes stung. She'd done something good today with her powers when her whole life they had been useless. She'd saved people...like Bucky.

             "Good."

            ______

Eira was free to do as she wished for the time being after being disciplined. She wanted to check on Bucky.

She found him in the clinical tent. Bucky was stunned when he learned all of his wounds were surprising healed. He was even more surprised when the men in the large tent started to gasp.

He looked up to find Eira walked towards him down the row of cots. He immediately stood to attention once she approached him and he nodded his head nervously, "Eira."

"Hi, Bucky," she smiled widely before she frowned a bit. "Are you alright?"

"What?" he blinked in confusion; he was so thrown by her smile that he completely missed what she even asked.

She frowned even more, "Well, you came to clinic. So, I wanted to make sure you were okay. Are you?"

"You did?" he started to smirk. "I...yes, I'm alright."

She smiled before her eyes latched onto his dog tags. She reached out for them as she furrowed her eyebrows while reading his full name.

James. She said as she traced the dog tag on his chest and nearly gave him a heart attack. He honestly hadn't much cared for his full name; it was always Bucky. But from her lips, she could've called him anything and he wouldn't have protested.

"I thought your name was Bucky?" she asked.

"Uh, it's a nickname," his heart raced. "But you can call me whatever you want, doll."

She pulled her hand away and he let out the breath he didn't know he was holding. She gave him a little smile, unaware of the effect she had on him, "Alright...Bucky."

             _____

Later, Steve was receiving a report with Bucky on Eira. Peggy gave him the girl's file while she explained.

"She's never left the lab?" Steve questioned as he flipped through it.

"Not until now," Peggy answered. "Honestly, you should leave this one alone. There are a lot of powerful people that have their hands on her future."

"What future?" Bucky questioned bitterly because there was no future; at least, not one that was any good. "Why did they even send her out here?"

Peggy frowned before Steve realized, "They didn't want her to save anybody, did they? They wanted her to follow orders. To be the perfect soldier."

"You can see she's doing absolutely marvelous in that regard," Peggy said sarcastically.

"And she'll continue to do marvelous in that regard," Bucky commented. "She's not their puppet."
