i have some lethal opinions that are going to get me cancelled but idgaf HAHA

also sorry this is so late i was trying to get this out the day after they debuted but obvi that didnt happen

anyways.

let's talk about le sserafim

at the end i'll talk more about their bsides bc they are YUMMY

but FIRST

fearless.

ajfnapifpiadfhadiph

honestly, i enjoyed the song

it was rlly refreshing to hear a fresh debut with charismatic and talented members and no crazy rhythm changes every 5 seconds (ik ik it looks like im bashing o.o but fr if there was no legitimate reason for the concept + rhythm changes i would fr sue jype no lie)

i didnt stan iz*one, so i can't really say much about sakura or kim chaewon

but i honestly don't hate this debut at all

overall, i give it a solid 7/10

i just think that it was kind of boring and flat in some parts

the repetitive "what you lookin at what you what you lookin at" kind of mushed the song into this repetitive flow where you could always expect the same concept and generally just kind of become boring after listening to it more than a few times

however, i will say that i do appreciate them giving us a solid debut and this really sets their footing as a rebellious, elegant spunky gg that makes me look forward to their future cbs

i also really appreciate how clean cut the song was and how they managed to finesse girl crush

also, that deep rap part that always ends in "ay" i think that was really strategically implanted i just wish it would've ben executed better

like i like that they decided to break up the song and it was a good break from the continuous rhythm but something about it just offputs me

it kind of just drives you to the edge of being tired of hearing the "ay" at the end and before u srsly start to rage quit the rap ends and they go back to the same rhythm

while this doesn't really bother me a whole ton, i just feel like they probably could've made it a little bit more classy and overall i just rlly expect something from all gg rap parts bc i feel like most gg rap parts are unnecessary and im constantly looking for one that counters that

its a shame that i couldnt find it in this song though.

moving on,

i just have this lingering doubt in the back of my mind that they're going to fall off at debut

like

i really like seeing groups experiment with their music. however, it's ideal to see a continuous pattern of concepts/music style for the first few cbs in a new group

for example, love dive was the perfect follow up cb to eleven, it matched the dreamy and intimate concept that they set at debut and really just captured my attention

but i just feel like maybe hype is going a little too far with le sserafim

when i first listened to the song with no english translation, i thought

"huh, i bet hype had them swear. that would be a memorable debut"

and guess what, they did

i just feel like maybe this concept is too much for them to continuously carry out

like i cant really picture what the next cb will be like if they try to follow the path theyve set

but maybe that's just me, idk

i just hope they try to make it coherent to some extent

NOW

DUN DUN DUN

WE TALK ABOUT

THE BSIDES

okay i cannot explain to you how good the bsides are

like

sour grapes?? blue flame?? the world is my oyster??

SLAPS

i'll be honest, i was a tad bit skeptical but fr the bsides MAKE this debut

new bside kweens ig

im gonna be so disappointed if they dont have good bsides in their next cb

for sour grapes i think i want to give this an 9/10

it SLAPPED so hard but the only real thing i have a problem with is the "yeah you heard me" part

i just feel like it was so unnecessary and kinda broke the flow of the song and little shout parts like that are so overused in kpop its just UGH

but overall the entire song just HITS

my fav bside out of the album slay

for blue flame, i give it a 8.5/10

they definitely drew some western influence for this song, which im not mad about at all

it kind of had the same riff and like techno beats and vocals as the weekend's songs

i really like chill beats like that, and i think it was really really well executed and overall just a great song, catchy beat, highlights their vocals

but after listening to it again after listening to sour grapes, it didn't feel as strong of a bside, which is why it was marked down in my rating

this probably is just my personal preference of music, but i genuinely just prefer the direction they went in with sour grapes

needless to say, blue flame is a rlly cool song and i hope to see more songs like this in their discography

both bsides are extremely well composed, executed, and produced and i really hope to see them come back swinging and not lose momentum on their next cb

currently manifesting a more unique title track:

anyways, i know there's more bsides but i just can't be bothered bc sour grapes and blue flame are genuinely my fav songs out of the debut

so this ends out lil debut recap sesh, i hope u enjoyed reading pls share ur opinion in the comments but pls be RESPECTFUL

respect my opinion, i'll respect yours:)
