CASE 2: DITTO / NEWJEANS CONCEPT ANALYSIS

so i've been absent these past few comebacks, i know but don't fret i will eventually get around to making an antifragile analysis chapter because i honestly really enjoyed that album

however,

the elephant in the room.

NEWJEANS.

when i first heard about them, i thought it was going to be a blowover rookie gg that was just a bandage for hybe's decreasing success with their bgs these past few months

fortunately, i was incorrect

their refreshing, cheerful yet somewhat mysterious image gives a clean wave onto the 4th gens

with the whole scandal ab the concepts and ADOR's ceo, i was a little scared going into this new cb after hype boy's success

the schoolgirl image helps create nostalgic memories and the filming of the music videos was honestly an essay in perfection

the production of ditto was hauntingly beautiful, with the ratatata's somehow adding to the forlorn atmosphere of the song

the flow of it??

we all ate it up.

the 808 drums in the background helped ground the song, and overall i really enjoyed it

however, on the first listen i felt like it never really amounted to anything

like there was a lot of buildup but no destination, leading to the song feeling boring and flat

in later listens, however, i found that this was compensated by the intricately shifted rhythms and echoing easter eggs, such as the ratatata's and the ghostly vocals

if this is just a bside, i am highly anticipating and setting crazy standards for their full cb.
