It was an hour until sunset. Perfect.
Eli took the stairs two at a time, Klitz's car keys jangled in his pocket during the rapid descent. His chest tickled with how excited he was and a stupid grin was plastered on his face.
At the bottom of the stairs, Eli's mom glanced up at him from the living room. He gave her a goofy wave. His plan was to walk right past her and out the door, but he knew the look she had on her face. She had some questions.
She smiled. She wasn't worried about her son's weird behavior, just curious. It was rare for Eli to do something that genuinely worried her.
"What are you dressed up so nice for?" She asked with a tilt of her head.
Eli looked down at his attire. He wasn't dressed like he was going to a formal event or anything. He was wearing a gray button up shirt and a dark pair of jeans that fit him a little tighter than his preferred jeans. He looked hot as hell.
He smiled sheepishly back at his mom before replying, "I just wanted to try something a little different."
Liar liar, hot, sexy pants on fire.
He was taking Klitzy on a date. Their first official date to be precise.
It was Eli's idea a few days ago. They were in Klitz's room, hanging out... and making out, when Klitz brought up how their relationship probably wasn't going to be much different than their previous friendship. Eli took slight offense to this and Klitz reiterated that yes, he loves Eli and wants to do many boyfriend-related things with him. He meant that they didn't need to take each other on dates or get to know each other better.
Eli immediately asked Klitz on a date, half-ignoring what Klitz just told him. Klitz rolled his eyes and accepted, but looked like he had to fight off a smile. Eli then asked that he be in charge of planning the date, like a true gentleman. Klitz agreed again, but looked slightly more worried about it.
How dare he doubt Eli's romantic capabilities!
Eli's mom nodded along, clearly pretending to buy his bullshit.
"Oh, I see. It looks like Klitz must have forgotten his car here last night, huh?"
She turned to look towards the front door, where Klitz's car was parked in the driveway right outside of it.
Eli nodded and shrugged before casually saying, "Yeah, his keys too. I'm going to go give those back to him real quick."
Klitz, per Eli's request, left his car here last night and had Matt take him home. Eli wanted to drive Klitz around today. How lame would it be to make your date drive everywhere? Very lame, and that's why Eli's driving.
No longer playing along, his mom broke out into a teasing grin and stood up.
"Eli," She started with hardly-contained excitement, "Are you taking a pretty girl on a date?"
Pretty? Absolutely. Girl? No.
