Love has no limits

One.

It was just another usual day in Seattle, Danielle made her way through busy streets to head to the library she worked for & Stefania made her commute to the café she'd been working with for the past 3 years. Danielle was early for work, and decided to take a quick detour to her best friends café and give her a surprise visit before starting her day. She approached the café and opened the door, welcomed by the smell of fresh Italian coffee yet her best friend was nowhere to be seen. She went up to the counter, ordered an oat milk latte & asked the barista for Stefania. Almost as if she knew she was wanted out front Stefania popped her head around the corner and a smile appeared on her face instantly as she saw who was waiting for her.

"Oh my goodness what are you doing here?? Why didn't you call me you little shit!!" Stefania said amongst her laughter whilst embracing her best friend in a warm hug. "Hello to you too Spampi" Danielle said back. After Danielles latte was ready she had to start leaving for work, and Stefania also had to continue working but not before they had a little chat with each other. As it was a Friday and most weekends neither of them work, Stefania wanted nothing more than a girls night with her favourite person.
"Its been wayyy too long since we got drunk and had a cosy night in, are you free tonight?"
Danielle was already smiling again when Stef asked, as it would be the perfect way to end a stressful week. "Of course yes you do not even have to ask me twice! I'll bring food, you grab booze and i'll meet you at your place?" Dani asked with a massive grin spread from ear to ear. "Si bella i'll finish my shift at 5 so should we say 6pm?"
Danielle agreed and started to get herself ready to leave for work, giving Stefania one last hug before leaving the small café. The clock read 08:47 and she started at 09:00 which meant she'd have to walk a little faster than normal, but she didnt mind as she got to start her morning in the best way.

After just under 15 minutes, Danielle arrived at the library and could already tell her boss, Natalie, was not in a pleasant mood. She was already ready to leave and go home yet her day only just began.

Stefania was now on her lunch break and wasn't feeling good at all after a confrontation with a customer not too long before, she truly loved her job at the café, but as someone who is quite anxious, she hates confrontation of any kind and feels awful after it happens. She wanted nothing more than to call her  best friend to cheer her up, but as they have different lunch breaks, she knew it would be no use as her phone would most likely be on silent and tucked away in her bag somewhere.

She settled for grabbing her smoothie from her bag and sitting in the back room, scrolling through anything that might've interested her on social media, purely trying to drown out the tension she was feeling over the previous events of her day.

The break went infuriatingly fast and all of a sudden it was 1pm and her half-hour break was over. Stef dreaded the rest of her shift as she didnt feel like she was in a good enough mood to serve customers as she likes to give everyone the best experience in the café. Despite all of how she felt, she plastered a smile on her face and walked back out to the front as if nothing happened and everything was fine.

The rest of the day went painfully slow for both Stefania and Danielle, Stef having to put up with the rush of customers after their days at work, which normally she loves but today it felt never ending and so overwhelming, and Danielle, whilst her day wasn't necessarily bad, she was just so damn ready to leave. They both finish work only 15 minutes apart and once both their shifts were over, they made their way home.

Danielle loved her walk from work to home, she could zone out after a long day and just listen to her favourite playlist with her hands in her pockets, and feeling so free. Stefania on the other hand lived further away from her café and walking wasn't an option unfortunately. She hated the drive home, most times the roads were filled with pissed off drivers trying to get home as fast as possible after a long day.

After about 20 minutes of driving, Stefania finally arrived home and immediately kicked off her shoes, threw her bags on the counter and collapsed on the couch and letting out a huge sigh. Before doing anything else, after about 5 minutes of sitting on the couch, Stef went to the kitchen to pour herself a glass of red wine and drank atleast half of it. Looking down at her watch, she realised Danielle was due to arrive soon and she was nowhere near ready. She headed upstairs to her bedroom and changed into a baggy grey hoodie and some black leggings. After a quick clean up of the living room and kitchen, she put out a wine glass for Danielle along with two bottles of wine (red & white), and sat on the couch waiting for her best friend who she was desperate to see.

Danielle pulled into Stefania's driveway after going home to change, and making the 25 minute drive there. She went up to the door, extremely excited and knocked, impatiently waiting for Stef to open the door. A few seconds later Stefania opened the door and let Danielle in with a warm welcome and a massive hug. Immediately Danielle could tell something was off with Stef, sure she was smiling but it wasn't the same as normally when her smile beams from ear to ear.

Stefania bought Danielle through to the kitchen and she took a small glass of wine for now, following Stef through to the living room and onto the couch. Dani put her glass on the coffee table and immediately went to see what was wrong with her best friend.
"Stef. You can downplay it all you want but i know you like the back of my hand, whats going on?"
Stef looked up at the ceiling to try and stop the tears that were itching to escape her eyes. However that failed and she couldn't stop the tears. "Come here" Dani said softly as she opened up her arms for Stefania to cuddle in, Stef gave in and just let herself feel everything she'd been suppressing for the whole day, finally letting the tears flow freely. She loved Danielle for many reasons, but the main one had to be that she always felt safe around her, Dani had always been her safe place ever since they became close friends, she knew she could always lean on her in times of weakness. She finally pulled herself out of her thoughts and realised she was clutching on to Danielles top for dear life, as if she was going to disappear. Eventually she calmed down and let go of how much she was clinging on to Danielle, "im sorry" she whispered as she started wiping her eyes.
"Dont apologise you dont have anything to be sorry for, what's bothering you? I hate seeing you like this" Dani said quietly, stroking Stefs arm as they were still sat close to each other.

"I've just had a crappy day and im really emotional because my stupid period decided to show up yesterday and I just feel tired and really shit" Stefania finally said, looking down as she started to feel embarrassed for how emotional she got. "Hey look at me. Its okay don't beat yourself up about it its okay. You wanna talk about it? Or just cuddle me and watch a movie, im very cuddly" Dani said in a happy, smiley tone to try and cheer up Stefania. "Second option sounds great right now" Stef said as she grabbed the tv remote to turn on the television. "Any movies in mind?" Stef asked as she was eager to take her mind off everything she was feeling now. "Hmmm what about the notebook?" Stefania agreed and put it on the tv. She was quick to grab the blanket on the end of the couch and cuddle up into Danielles warm embrace, forgetting about all of her problems and focusing on Danis perfume and the sound of her heart beating next to her ear. She truly felt safe there.
