CHAPTER 2
Knock! Knock! Knock!
I knocked before I opened the door and went inside, my eyes landing on Khun Kinn as he looked over in my direction.
"Oh good, you're back," Khun Kinn said as soon as he saw me walk through the room. As I looked around the room, the thought crossed my mind, why do I have to be here? I was not the only person in room, as Khun Kim and a select few trusted bodyguards of the brothers are currently going though confidential documents.
"Come over here and give us a hand, or are you just going to keep standing there, gawking at us?" Khun Kim said which made me smile faintly as I closed the door behind me.
"Well look who has arrived! You finally made it. Come over here and help please, we need to sort through these documents and take note of all the incomings and outgoings in this notepad," Arm said as he motioned for me to come closer, explaining that everyone is helping to find evidence of who the mole is and taking note of any customer order mistakes and all related expenses.
I glanced over at Khun Kinn and wondered if I should confess my mistakes when he is looking so overworked and stressed out. While he looked at the documents, his determined, no-nonsense expression almost makes it seem like he is in his own little bubble, far away from everyone else.
"Where is the popcorn I asked you to bring for me?" Khun asked suddenly.
You dunce!!
Vegas had bought it and yet how could it have slipped my mind? I was the one who had eaten his popcorn and had left the uneaten popcorn in the cinema.
"Oh, I'm sorry Mr. Khun, I forgot," I said quietly and lowered my head, then covered my ears with my hands as I knew that he about to lose his temper and scream in my face.
"You bastard, how dare you forget about me! If things weren't so stressful right now, I would order you to go back and get it for me, you lazy bastard! Damn it, you really have changed Pete, all your focus is on Vegas, so now you don't give a toss about me! Hmmpphh!" Khun Tankhun yelled angrily, while his voice revealed that he did care and was concerned about me. This also indicated that he understood the gravity of Khun Kinn's situation.
"Khun, I will make it up to you tomorrow, in fact I will buy you two bags, okay?" I suggested, hoping my peace offering was sufficient to end this drama quickly. I have to offer something so I can survive his outburst and for this topic to come to an end.
I am so very tired; how much longer do I have to keep silently supressing my frustration inside?
"Okay... that sounds more like the Pete I know." It would be so much better if Tankhun didn't lose his shit over superficial things like this. Although he seems like he is missing a few screws, when he was serious about something, he seems even more unhinged... just take my word for it...
Once Khun stopped acting crazy, I slowly looked through at each document, as I began to slowly sink to the floor. I tried to sit upright, but because I am continuously looking down at the documents, my eyes began to feel heavier and heavier.
The room gradually begins to feel very similar to the cinema I was in earlier today. The cold air from the air conditioning seems to have a tranquilizing effect on me; I could feel a drowsy sensation start to build up in my body. If I was well-rested and in my right frame of mind, this would have no effect, but now, this drowsy sensation is multiplied by the fact that the pile of papers in front of me act like a giant pillow that I can rest my head on. Eventually all I want to do is have a power nap, even for just fifteen minutes.
.
"Pete, you can stop now. Go on and head back to your room and sleep." I was suddenly startled awake by the sounds of someone walking by me. I quickly raised my head and recovered my composure by sitting in a chair nearby as it felt like I have slept longer than 15 minutes. I quickly looked around and when I saw the time on the clock, I was shocked... almost six hours! I had slept six hours, longer than I have in days and yet I had achieved nothing.
