For the setting, I just looked up YouTube videos of Turlock, and most of them involve criminal activities, though there are websites that cover how living conditions are. The only part of Turlock I've been to is the part of it with an In-N-Out Burger and a Red Robin closest to the Golden State Highway. If you can find videos about modern living conditions in Turlock that remind you of those videos I've shown you about Visalia, link them in the comments so that I'll include them. For now, here's some for Ripon.
I don't know about Ripon, but I've been overthinking about the setting being Arroyo Grande thanks to Christian's Mattress Xpress and learning that it was the childhood hometown of Zac Efron(San Luis Obispo being his birthplace).
There are other YouTube videos about Arroyo Grande, like living conditions and costs, but I'll stick with these ones.
I imagine that Lincoln and Ronnie Anne could visit those at the Royal Woods Police Station before deciding to cut some ties with them out of shame, before leaving for what they'd eventually find out upon arrival is Arroyo Grande. Later, there could be a scene of arrival with Lincoln and Ronnie Anne seeing people enjoy paradise. I envision this being more different than similar to that scene of the 2002 film Scooby-Doo where Mystery Incorporated splits up on rancid terms, with Lincoln and Ronnie Anne kind of in the role of Scooby, and the person the two are traveling with sort of being in the role of Shaggy, being the driver.
Upon arrival, they could be looking around, some people enjoying paradise as "Pass the Dutchie" plays.
There is this episode of The Casagrandes called "Let's Get Ready to Rumba".
