Aether POV:
"What's up!"
I kicked the door to Jean's office open while grinning from ear to ear. Jean was startled enough to drop her coffee only to catch it the next second and Lisa nearly dropped the book she was reading. I walked inside and Paimon followed me.
"Aether, I see you're back." Jean said.
"Really? I didn't notice." I said with a chuckle.
Lisa laughed and put her book back on the shelf.
"Hello, cutie. What brings you here?"
"I heard Windblume was approaching, so I came back." I said.
"Makes sense." Jean said. "Well, you're actually a bit early. Windblume doesn't officially start until tomorrow."
"Oh." I said. "Well, I guess I can just take on commissions and things like that."
I sighed. Jean smiled.
"If you report to Hertha down by the gate with a dragon above it, you can assist the knights. We need volunteers." Jean said.
"Really? Well, in that case, I'm going to check it out. See you around!"
"Bye, master Jean!" Paimon said with a smile.
We exited the headquarters and walked down the stairs to find Hertha.
"Do you think there's going to be good food during Windblume?" Paimon asked me.
"Of course there is!" a familiar voice laughed cheerfully.
We looked up and saw Venti sitting on a roof and waving at us.
"Venti!"
"Hi, Aether, how are you?"
Venti jumped off the roof and prevented his fall with anemo as he glided down to the ground. He smiled at me, happy to see me again.
"I'm great, Venti, how are you?" I said with a bright smile at the sight of my best friend.
"Fantastic as always." he grinned and winked. "Seeing you always makes me happy."
I chuckled.
"Are you two really just going to ignore Paimon?" Paimon complained.
Venti smiled mischievously.
"Well, that was the plan."
Paimon glared at the bard and I laughed at their bickering.
"Can you two stop bickering for a minute? Don't get me wrong, it's very entertaining to watch but it gives me a headache. We're going down to Hertha to help with some tasks, would you like to come along, Venti?" I said.
He nodded.
"Great! Let's go."
In the evening, I left Paimon back in Mondstadt because I wanted some alone time with Venti. Venti was happy to have me all to himself and balanced on the railing as we walked over the bridge outside Mondstadt. We joked and laughed together. I felt so free whenever I hung out with Venti, I could let go of all my troubles and just focus on being happy. I guess it kind of made sense with him being the archon of freedom.
"So Venti, what have you been doing?"
"Thinking of you." he said.
He stopped once he realized what he had said, but I only laughed.
