Aether POV:Liyue's streets were filled with merchants and businessmen and women. Not that it was unusual or that something had changed, it just felt different. As I was making my way through the crowd, I looked up for a moment and noticed two familiar faces in the Wanmin Bookhouse. I made my way toward the stairs. When I reached Wanmin Bookhouse, the two young boys immediately noticed me.
"Aether, what are you doing here?" Chongyun asked with a surprised face.
"Hi Aether, how are you?" Xingqiu grinned.
I said hi to them and we chatted for a while.
"Xingqiu brought some awesome books from Inazuma." Chongyun said with a small smile.
"Yeah, the Yae Publishing House has great novels. I've read a few of them." I said.
"Most of the novels I bought were about samurai or spirits. But I couldn't find the very popular series about the Raiden Shogun and the head shrine maiden." Xingqiu sighed.
"You mean the book where the main character gets reborn as the Raiden Shogun? I don't remember what it's called, but I know the title of the other book, 'Pretty Please, Lady Guuji?'. I did read the latter, but it didn't live up to my expectations." I said.
"Yes! That's the one!" Xingqiu exclaimed with a bright smile.
I shook my head as I chuckled lightly.
"Are you really sure that you want to read fanfiction about the Electro Archon and her servant?"
Xingqiu nodded. He smirked.
"I'd be thrown out of Liyue Harbour if I ever wrote something like that about the Lord of Geo! That's exactly why I want to read it."
"Right. But enough about books, what are you guys up to?" I asked.
"Xingqiu was just giving me some leads on evil spirits. Some of them sound like they could be real." Chongyun said.
"Then, I'll leave you two to hunting down those spirits." I laughed and turned around to walk out of the bookhouse.
"Wait! Do you want to come with us?" Chongyun asked.
I turned back around.
"Very tempting, but I'll pass. Besides, Xingqiu hasn't been able to shut up about how much he enjoys reading books with you. Perhaps you should spend some time with him."
"Aether!" Xingqiu hid his face in the book he was holding. "I told you that in strict confidence!"
Chongyun chuckled lightly.
"I enjoy reading books with you too, Xingqiu. You just need to ask!"
Xingqiu looked up from his book before sending a glare my way and made eye contact with Chongyun.
"Then... Maybe you would like to read my books sometime?"
"Sure."
Xingqiu's face was the color of a Jueyun Chili when I left the bookhouse.
I started to prepare for my journey back to Mondstadt by buying ingredients and cooking. I also took the opportunity to visit some old friends. Xiangling treated me and Paimon to a meal at the Wanmin Restaurant, I met Ningguang and Beidou down by the docks on a walk, I even went to Wangshu Inn to see Xiao. (The awkwardness between us wasn't so bad, thank the archons) I visited Zhongli, Yanfei, Shenhe, Yun Jin, and Hu Tao as well.
Then, we headed to Mondstadt.
"Ah, Paimon missed the atmosphere here! Mondstadt really is a peaceful nation, right?"
