A/N: Okay, so I've been going through some shit. I wasn't able to get any alone time for two weeks and that set off a snowball of things that just dragged my mental health down into the depths of the abyss. I woke up today (as I'm writing this) and felt so drained. It's been like that for a few days. My motivation to write or do anything besides Genshin Impact has been completely gone.
Soooooo.... yeah, now you know why the chapter might not be very good or long. Honestly, I'm not satisfied with it. Still, I hope that you can enjoy reading it, even if it's bad.
Aether POV:
My sister was the princess of the abyss.
My own sister.
It was a lot to take in and finally getting out in the open again helped to ease the confusion I was experiencing. I was tired. Tired of searching for her, only for her to disappear again. Paimon tried to cheer me up. We'll find her again. But what if we didn't?
I wiped the single tear rolling down my cheek.
"Aether, are you sure you're alright? Paimon doesn't want you to be sad."
The small floating child looked at me with a look of concern.
"I'm fine." I said. "Just a little overwhelmed."
"Okay, Paimon's here if you need to talk!" Paimon hugged my arm tightly. "Because Paimon is the best travel companion in the whole world!"
I chuckled lightly.
"I'd say that you're the best across multiple whole worlds, my dear travel companion."
Paimon smiled cheerfully.
"Aw, thanks! Moving on, Paimon thinks that we should go to Inazuma next."
Isn't it a bit too soon to think about that? Eh, whatever. The sooner this journey's over, the sooner I can be with my sister again.
"Isn't Inazuma a closed nation? How are we going to get in?" I asked her.
"Uh-"
Paimon thought hard for a few seconds. She made the most hilarious face I had seen in my life while doing it, too. I tried not to laugh at the talking emergency food, but it was hard not to crack a smile.
"Oh, Paimon knows! Let's ask Atsuko, she's from Inazuma! ...what are you doing, Aether?"
"Nothing, nothing. Let's get going!" I said with a smile.
After talking to Atsuko it was very clear; it was extremely dangerous and difficult to get to Inazuma. The nation was surrounded by a big thunderstorm and almost no one wanted to face it. Luckily, I thought of someone that liked sailing and a challenge.
"Aether!" a familiar voice said as soon as I was aboard the Alcor.
Captain Beidou was standing beside a boy I didn't know. He was not from Liyue, I could see that by looking at his clothes. The captain wore a big smile, as always, and ruffled my hair. I chuckled.
"Hi there, kiddo! How are you doing?" Beidou grinned.
"I'm good, how about you?"
"I'm great. Oh, right. Should probably introduce our guest." She gestured to the stranger beside her. "This is Kazuha. A temporary addition to my crew."
"Hello, Aether. I have heard about your great feats from the captain." He smiled.
"Hi Kazuha, it's nice to meet you."
