"I don't remember
not being tired"
____________________________________________________The air felt warm and damp against her face as Alivia entered the bar with Annie close behind her. They glanced around the crowded room and noticed two familiar faces at the very back.
"Okay, bags are secured and ready for pick-up!" Annie informed as they reached their friends, their glasses already half empty.
"When is he coming over?" Beth wondered, taking another sip of her bourbon.
"Sometime tomorrow," Alivia shrugged as she sat down opposite them.
"Nothing specific?" Ruby piped up.
"Is he ever specific?" She said, rolling her eyes. "Hopefully I'll be in more than a t-shirt when he decides to break in this time."
"I'm pretty sure he just teleports everywhere." Ruby grinned from behind her glass.
"Oh, most definitely." The strawberry blonde nodded in agreement, chuckling.
"I wish I could teleport," Annie slumped down further in her seat, a frown on her face.
"Yeah? Where would you go?" Ruby raised a brow.
"Probably France, or Mexico, or Papa John's down the street." The blonde spoke, almost dreamily. "Should we get pizza after?"
"Yes," Alivia pushed herself up from her chair, "but first, I'll go get us some more drinks."
She pushed herself past the rows of tables until she reached the bar and ordered them their drinks. Alivia had to raise her voice for the bartender to be able to hear her over the chatter surrounding them.
"Y'all celebrating?" A voice she recognized instantly whispered in her ear, causing an involuntary shiver to run down her spine. He sat down on the, now, empty stool next to her, his usual smirk plastered across his face, and simply nodded at the bartender.
"No," she finally said, letting out the breath she didn't realize she'd been holding in. She forced down whatever emotions had risen to her chest and raised her brows, smiling playfully. "Are you following us?"
He merely laughed, before licking his lips and turning to fully face her. "You get everything cleaned?"
"Squeaky," she grinned back at him. The bartender placed their drinks on the counter and she pressed the four glasses together in her hands, praying she wouldn't drop them on her way back to their table. She nodded her head towards him and grinned again, "Put these on his tab."
She swiftly made her way back to the women, her heart pounding against her chest, the smile still occupying her face. She barely paid them attention as she placed the glasses on the table and sat down in her chair.
"What's with the smile?" Annie asked, her eyes narrowing suspiciously.
"Hm?" Alivia let out absentmindedly, turning her head towards her friend. She inhaled deeply and blinked a few too many times, trying to bring herself back. "What do you mean?"
"You were just in some sort of weird-ass trance-" she started but Alivia simply shrugged and pushed Annies drink up to her lips, hoping she would just move on while downing her own. None of them knew Beth had seen them at the bar.
"Y'all are fucking weird," Ruby said, shaking her head. "Anyway, as I was saying, can you believe those machines they used to verify?"
"Mm, this cash is primo." Alivia rolled her eyes as Annie smacked her lips at the last word.
