"Paint me as a villain."
____________________________________________________"So, I keep thinking about what you said," a low voice spoke smoothly from behind her, causing her to jump slightly in surprise. "About being a basic bitch and whatnot."
"Yeah, well, we can't all be deep and original," she croaked, but couldn't help smiling at the amusement in his voice as he finished his sentence. She stepped forward and smiled at the woman behind the counter, "A latte, to go, thank you."
The woman smiled and nodded before looking up at the man, "anything for you, sir?"
"Nah, I'm good, thank you."
Alivia paid and stepped aside to wait for her drink. She crossed her arms over her chest and glanced up at the man, "so, what about being basic?"
"Maybe there's something you can help me out with," he said and leaned in closer.
"What's that?" Alivia thanked the barista quickly as he handed her the coffee and followed the man outside.
"Come on," he nodded, motioning towards his car. "I'll drive you home."
"Can you at least tell me your name?" She wondered, but he simply smirked as he entered the car.
Alivia hesitated for a brief moment, then pursed her lips, sighed loudly, and got into the passenger seat.
She swallowed down hard and pretended the uncomfortable feeling lingering in her chest wasn't there. She buckled her seatbelt as he started the car and drove off.
"Y'all got passports?" He asked, breaking the silence, eyes still on the road.
Her eyes narrowed as she turned to look at him, "yeah?"
He licked his lips and leaned his head back, "I need you to pick something up for me in Canada."
"Okay," she replied while nodding her head and pursing her lips once again. "Is it drugs?"
He simply laughed and didn't answer her question, so she continued, "Guns then?"
He shook his head lightly, still smiling, "It's better if you don't know."
She groaned at his response but didn't push any further.
He pulled into her apartment complex a few minutes later, parking near the exit. She unbuckled her seatbelt as he turned to look at her, "Open the glove."
She glanced at him quickly before leaning forward and opening the compartment.
"What happened to the gold?" She asked, ignoring the gun and taking out the piece of paper next to it.
"Special occasions," he said with a soft laugh.
"Right," she smiled and leaned her head back against the seat, turning to face him. "When do we have to do this?"
"Friday."
Alivia gathered the three women in her living room a few hours later to go over the details of their trip.
"Well, I think we should cross the border at Windsor, their border patrol's super nice there."
"Don't ask her how she knows that," Alivia said while Annie smirked and gestured with her hands at the activities she used to do in Canada.
"He didn't say anything about what it was?" Beth wondered anxiously as she poured them all drinks and placed them on the coffee table.
Alivia shook her head, "says it's better if we don't know."
Annie leaned back against the sofa with her arms crossed over her chest, humming as she glanced around suspiciously. She rolled her eyes and sighed as the three women simply stared at her, "Come on guys, seriously?"
"Oh, just spit it out," Ruby pressed.
"It's obviously drugs. Up our asses." She said, gesturing with her hand. "Yeah, otherwise you gotta swallow the baggie, which frankly seems even more uncomfortable. I'd almost rather shove-"
"No. Nuh-uh." Ruby let out hastily while shaking her head.
"That's not gonna happen," Beth finished.
"Oh, so, you'd rather just declare a kilo at customs?"
"Don't say kilo," Beth looked at her sister with furrowed brows.
"Anyway..." Alivia interrupted. "He said if we do this, we're done. He'll forget about the money."
"When do we have to do this?" Beth questioned.
"Friday."
"Well, I can't Friday. I have a home visit for my custody case," Annie said with a shrug.
Ruby shot her an incredulous look, "So, you're gonna tell the man with the crying skull tattoo that Friday doesn't work for you?"
"Fine, but we have to be back in time for me to clean up and get all the drugs out of my cavities."
Alivia rolled her eyes, "Okay, so, we have the passports and directions. All we need now is a car."
"I'd offer mine but it got the boot," Annie informed them and downed her drink.
"How many tickets?" Ruby wondered.
"Six is apparently the cutoff," She answered with a shrug. "Now we know."
"It's probably better if we don't use our own cars. We should borrow one," Alivia said and turned her attention toward Beth.
"Why are you looking at me?" Beth asked, confused.
"Because 'We've got Chevys. We've got Fords. We've got Chryslers too.'" Alivia started in the most ridiculous voice she could do.
"No. No, no, no." Beth said, shaking her head.
Annie and Ruby joined in, "So come down to Boland Motors and we'll put the vroom, vroom, vroom back in your engine."
They all laughed while Beth kept shaking her head and downed her drink, looking miserable.
Alivia sighed as she said goodbye to the girls a little while later and closed the door behind them, leaning back against it.
She slid down the door and sat down on the floor with her legs crossed. She smiled as Levi laid down in front of her and rested his head on her knee, his tail wagging happily.
"You ready for your walk, huh?" She laughed as he barked. She groaned as she pushed herself back up, "Okay, come on."
