It was a late night, the air was cold but it wasn't the coldest it could be. Adelaide was lying in her bed trying her best to fall asleep but it was in vain for, she had heard a sound outside like someone falling off a horse. She sat up, squinted her eyes, and trudged out of her small room. She saw her three companions Trufflehunter, Trumpkin, and Nikabrik sitting around the table to her surprise. "Did you 'ere it too?" Trumpkin asked Adelaide gruffly. She nodded, "Do you suppose we should go investigate?" She asked. Trumpkin nodded and grabbed his sword. Adelaide followed suite, and the two of them set out to find out who made the sound. When Adelaide had gotten to the door, sword in hand, she opened it and peeked out to see if it was anything dangerous but what she saw next was something she thought she'd never see again.

What Adelaide had seen was a Telmarine boy about her age. Her blood boiled at the thought of those terrible people that were the cause of the death of her parents. She walked up to Trumpkin and said coldly, "It's a Telmarine." His eyes widened and they quickly walked out of their house (which happened to be inside of a tree). When they were outside the boy looked up from where he was lying down. He had seen them. "He's seen us!" Adelaide said apprehensively. At this Trumpkin ran at the Telmarine boy with his sword. Just as he was about to swing his sword at the boy two Telmarine soldiers came out of nowhere. Trumpkin turned to Adelaide and said, "Take care of him" as he ran over to the soldiers with his sword. Adelaide nodded at him and quickly walked over to the boy ready to slice his head off but before she could get to him he quickly took a white horn by his side to his lips. "No!" Adelaide shouted angrily but it was too late, he blew the horn. When he had taken the horn from his lips he didn't even have time to think for, Adelaide had run over to him angrily and knocked him out cold.

The boy fell unconscious from being hit on the head by Adelaide she breathed heavily and ran over to where Trumpkin was to help him hold off The soldiers only to find them all gone. Her jaw dropped at the suddenness of the situation. "How could this have happened?" she thought but her thoughts were interrupted by Trufflehunter, "What happened?" he asked worriedly. "They were Telmarines they took Trumpkin." She said with worry lasing her words. "Who's that over there?" The badger said pointing to the Telmarine boy.

"It's a Telmarine boy."

"Is he hurt?"

"Quite sure of it."

"Well then bring him in then."

"Why? he's a Telmarine he can't be trusted."

"Just bring him in."

Adelaide sighed and reluctantly dragged the boy into their house hidden in a tree.
