You and Felix never… really put a label on your relationship.

It was the easiest way to live it, if you had to be honest. You didn’t know how the boys could react, knowing you were one of the few girls to live on Neverland, if you counted the mermaids and the ex fairy.

Living not too far from the camp, so you could avoid being "the center of the attention" as Pan stated upon the first day of your life on the island, your eyes had always caught the lanky second in command, who was often doing his rounds on his own.

Your treehouse offered a small balcony so you could observe the wildlife or read to the sounds of birds chirping, in the shade… So, the first times you had seen him wandering around did surprise you, but then you realised Pan had set you up there so he and the blond boy could keep an eye on you. The idea made you scoff: they would quickly overpower you if you tried anything, and you weren't clearly a threat (or perhaps you were a threat for those young men who acted like savages and had forgotten how a girl looked…). All you wanted was to live a long, quiet and happy life.

At first, Felix never stopped by or responded positively to your greetings. You figured out he was simply ignoring you or too deep in his thoughts, and, considering you were seen as a threat… Well, he was not very nice. Then, you unfortunately came across a dangerous creature, and Felix became your knight in shining armour… Though you ended up with blood on yourself, which you didn't mind at the moment because you were safe and alive.

After that encounter, you noticed that Felix would slow down his pace whenever he passed your treehouse. Then, he would simply acknowledge your greeting with a nod, and, after some weeks, he would mumble a small "hello" back. That warmed something in you, and your heart was beating so hard whenever he would walk over.

So yes, one night, you and him ended mysteriously on your bed and you both did things that would make a priest blush and faint in horror. And you thought that was it. Your weird relationship began after. Sometimes, he would not even come over for a few days, then come, stay a little bit to eat something else than meat and some fruits, sleep and leave. His schedule was odd, but you followed him through it. You liked Felix, even with his oblivious flaws.

When the second in command came over that night, you expected to start having your usual number which would be flirting, and implying heavily what you both could do under the covers… But this time, it was not a hot and sensual smirking Felix that was standing in the doorway but a crying Felix who looked like he had jumped right off the bed to join you.

Leading him to your bed, you sat down with him and asked him if everything was okay. He didn’t reply but instead sobbed harder in his hands. He could have cried a river if he had wanted to. You remembered hearing a story with a girl who did this… Snapping back to reality, you realised he had put his head on your shoulder, which made you realise that indeed, something was wrong.

"Do… Do you want to lay down?" You asked softly, and cursed yourself for your inability to console people.

He nodded eagerly and you pulled him against you as you both fell on your bed. Immediately, he curled next to you, trying to make himself smaller and went closer to your body. Your hand moved to his hair and you started to pet it, trying not to be too rough. You had always believed his hair looked like pure gold… It was truly a beautiful colour.

He sniffled and rubbed his face on your arm, trying to calm himself down. He tried to regain his normal composure, but the frown he had on his face was no better. You gave him a slight smile and brought your hand to his cheek, rubbing it and wiping the tears away.

"I am sorry… but I didn't… I didn’t know where to go… I didn’t want them to see me like this." He apologised, not looking at you, meaning that he seemed ashamed of what happened.

"It's okay, I don't mind." You replied, still focusing on making him feel better. "You don't have to apologise for feeling like this, I am glad you came to me. It means you trust me." You tried to make your tone light, so he could at least laugh and change his mood, which seemed to work.

"Right… What would I be without you?"

"That's a great question… Let me find the answer… Six feet under, I bet." You stuck your tongue out at him childishly.

He chuckled at your comment, and you couldn’t help but grin at that. His laugh was the most melodious sound you had ever heard, and it made you full of joy to hear it. He stopped and released a deep breath. His eyes contemplated the many plants that you put inside the treehouse that grew up to the ceiling.

"Do you mind telling me what… what put you in that state?" You asked reluctantly. "It is fine if you don't want to speak about it, I know that… it can be hard for some people."

"I had a… very intense dream. Or nightmare. I don't know how I should call it, but it was about… about my life before I came here. Before Neverland." He explained, still focusing on the plants and the ceiling. "I guess it shows how unhappy my life was: Neverland takes away your merry and happy memories and it didn't take any of mine."

"I am sorry…"

"You're not the one that should say those words." His voice suddenly became cold and you winced a bit at his stone, which he noticed and tried to speak softer. "You never hurt me. If anything…" His eyes flew to yours and your heart skipped a beat. "If anything, you made my life better. You make me want to live. There's someone inside me that is… shining again, if that makes sense." He continued, releasing a soft laugh.

"No… I understand what you mean." You told him, scouting closer to his body. "I guess… my life was no better. I never thought I could have all this, and that I could feel emotions again." You stopped, realising what you had revealed and started to chuckle. "I make no damn sense at all."

A comfortable silence settled between the two of you. Your arm was around his shoulders and his head was nested in the crook of your neck. He had closed his eyes but you weren't certain that he was asleep. Should you wake him up? Or did he plan to leave early in the morning as usual?

"(Y/N)?"

You hummed, indicating that you were still there, awake.

"You are worth everything. You are worth every danger I have to face and fight on this island. Thank you… Thank you for existing." He murmured as his lips found yours. "Thank you for loving me."

You were a little shocked by his words, and replied that you felt the same. You thanked him and let him curl up around you, satisfied with his presence and content with his revelations. Rubbing his back to lull him back to sleep, you felt your eyes starting to close slowly. Not wanting to fight back sleep, you allowed yourself to rest, feeling safe with Felix at your side.
