(Finally updated after a year *thumbs up*)
The rest of the day wasn't so great. She had tried to get a hold of her uncle in the hours she was awake with her flip phone. She tried for the rest of the week, making sure to do all her homework and Melanie hadn't been there much lately. With all her knowledge, she didn't have to try much at all. Getting her uncle's call was all her mind focused on for the rest of the week. She hadn't really paid attention in class anymore and as long as she passed the tests and did the homework, she was fine for the teachers hated being corrected by her and not only that but they could see Friday in distress. This made her feel a bit better. Finally, at the end of the week, Uncle Bernie had finally picked up the phone, and when he did, he was the same gruffly voice but with a small Italian accent.
"Hey Uncle Bernie!" Friday said.
"Hello Friday, need anything?" He said
"Yes um-" Friday started.
"Hold on Friday," her uncle said. Friday waited a minute until he was back.
"Sorry Friday, please say what you need to say quickly, I'm on a time crunch here." He said urgently.
"Have you seen or know a girl named Angelina Farrow?" She asked.
"Yes, sorry Friday, gotta take this, love you, stay safe, Bye!" He said as he hung up.
"Interesting..." Friday said writing it down on her paper. Another week passed and there was nothing important happening. Up until Monday. By rumors being spread, there was a new boy by the name of Angelo. He was a transfer student from Italy and was supposingly cute.
Friday waited until she got to the lunchroom to tell Melanie about the rumors. Like all the things in the school, this was kinda like Christopher except the criminal on the loose was a girl. Melanie got excited and said she was going to see the new boy. She got up and walked away, but Friday followed her. She was quite interested in this new boy too. She saw Melanie in a crowd of girls. Friday squeezed through the crowd to find a very tall dark brown haired boy with piercing eyes with black glasses. This Angelo looked almost as strong as Ian, and was definitely good looking. She looked around for Melanie again to drag her to the table.
"Wasn't he cute?" Melanie asked her in a dreamy voice.
"You have a boyfriend." Said Friday.
"Yea, but as you said, you don't need to like someone for them to be good looking just like you and..." Melanie stopped right there.
"Just like me and? Oh." Friday said as she thought about it. Ian was wondering in her mind. "Let's just get to our next class Melanie." Said Friday.
"I suppose if I want to stay in this school I have to go to classes, See you at the gym." Melanie waved good-bye. Friday felt as if her friendship with Melanie had broken apart. Was this because of her or the school? Would her friendship ever be the same? All these questions were making her uneasy so she went to Mr. Spencer's science class for the gifted and were talking about how there were special atoms in some molecules. Friday wasn't listening for this would go on up until the end of the year and it was now 9 weeks away from meeting Ian again.
It had been 2 days and Sergeant Crowley hadn't pulled her out of any of her classes. Most of the classes went by so easily, except gym. The one class that Melanie and Friday were in the same class and also they both hated it. It was a bit easier for Friday, having done those burpees a while ago. Their teacher had rarely looked at Melanie and Friday for it was no point in arguing against each other. It was really tough winning an argument against Friday because she would always give ruthless facts and almost always have evidence for the fact she supported. Friday and Melanie had gotten out of gym a while ago when Friday won a critical argument about gym, Mr. Fontana, the gym teacher, had had enough and just let them sit out of the gym. They often talked but there was nothing to talk about except the new boy, which is what they were going to do.
