Chapter Ten (Edited)
The Test
Daniel's P.O.V
Felix came to pick me up as usual. This week was our third week as our little flour bag's parents and it was going great. Today the teacher was going to do a general test to check what we have learnt about the responsibilities of parenthood and how we take care of our little flour bags every day. Some people were going to be failed or disqualified based on their answers and their flour bags general welfare while the others will not only continue to the end but will also gain mark from today's exercise.
I was dressed in a hot pink shirt and black slacks with a black Pams. And I cleaned Aiden up pretty well with dry wipes and powered him before dressing him in diapers and swaddling him in a hot pink blanket that had pretty yellow flowers on it. A spray of perfume here and there and we were done. We went down the stairs to get Aiden baby carrier and I strapped it on, carefully placing my flour baby inside before going out the door to meet Felix.
After I and Felix's date, everything has been going well between us but we didn't want to rush it. We didn't want to make it seem that we were only together for Aiden's sake. We wanted to be sure we really lov-liked each other before we advance. But Felix promised to take me on more dates.
The ride to the school was filled with our usual chatter and before we knew it, we arrived at the school's parking lot. Home Economics class wasn't 3rd period for the both of us. So we checked in with the Home Economics teacher and left for our various classes.
First two classes went like a blur and soon I was on my way to Home Economics class when I bumped into Bella. We haven't been hanging out and talking much how we used to and it was weird. I didn't even notice or feel lonely because of Felix but we were supposed to be best friends.
"Hey there, Bella. It's been a long time". I said with a smile as I cradled Aiden through the baby carrier strapped to me. Her previous smile turned into a sneer and she crossed her hands and looked the other way. She must really be mad. I and Bella were kind of inseparable before the Baby project but then she became estranged all of a sudden. She was normally the one forcing me to do things with her. Now it just looked like she was avoiding me. The second bell ran as a warning for those that were yet to get to their various classes and I sighed. I'll deal with her later. I waved her good-bye which she didn't return and made my way to my class.

"Class as you know, today is our test day". The teacher said with a suspicious smile on her face. I hope she doesn't make it harder than it's supposed to be. And I was pretty sure that it was the same thought running in everyone's smile by their scared expressions.
"Oh guys calm down. I promise just to make it harder a little bit". She chuckled out and the whole class groaned in frustration. "So today's test is going to be in three categories; oral, writing and General check-up. In the oral category, I'll ask you guys a few questions about your flour babies, how you've been taking care of them and what you have learnt about responsible parenthood. The second is the writing category where I'll pass you question and answer sheets. And when you are done with the test, the third category comes to play. As you submit your answers, each of your flour babies will be checked and if anything is found wrong, you'll lose a mark and if it's damaged, you'll be disqualified and graded based on your test, which is just about 40 percent of your total score". I watched as my fellow students faces paled and a boy at the back was sweating buckets. I looked over to Felix to see him smirking at me with his chest puffed with pride. At that moment I knew...
We got this.
+++++++
The oral test went well with Felix and I in the lead as the teacher said. I seriously had no idea what she was talking about. We answered all the questions correctly because I had made Felix study about parenthood and we even did a little writing on it to make it easier for us. The Writing part went well....for me anyway. I didn't know about Felix as his face was expressionless and he was hastily scribbling as if a second wasted will make it all disappear from his brain. I waited for him to finish so we could submit our papers together.
He finished about three minutes later and we went to the front of class where Miss Berry was seated marking a few papers.
"You guys are done?"
"Yes ma". We both answered and she gestured for us to place our papers on her table.
"Hand me your flour baby". I really appreciated how she called it a baby and not just a flour bag. I unstrapped him from the baby carrier and Felix carefully brought him out. She gave him a quick once over before handing him back to us.
"I see you both are still doing a great job with him. Little Aiden". She said with a small smile and told us that we could leave the class.

The test week passed and soon we were in our last week as Aiden's parents. It has been a tough ride with the diaper change, the clean-up and carrying him around. I didn't want it to be over too soon. The final day was tomorrow and I was feeling very nervous. We knew we would pass as Felix and I both got an A+ for both our oral and writing. The final test was tomorrow and then we would have to say good-bye to Aiden.
I was feeling a little down because of it and Felix noticed and tried to cheer me up to no avail.
"Mommy ah don wan you sad". He said in a child's voice. It was terrible by the way. He voice was way too deep and babies don't talk. But he succeeded in making me laugh out. He pulled me towards him and wrapped a hand around my waist.
"Don't be sad. We can have as many babies as you want later". He said and I felt him freeze against me, his arms tightening. I could feel my face go red and my het beating at an irregularly fast pace. He wanted us to be together.
And have babies.
I made up my mind last week to ask Felix out on a date and then ask him to be my boyfriend. I am a boy too; he didn't have to be the one to ask. I was just waiting for our project to be done. I wanted to ask him out on his birthday which was next week Thursday. Just four days away as today is Friday.
"Yeah. We can have as many babes as we want".
A/N: I hope you enjoyed the tenth chapter of Flour Daddies. This book is about to come to an end. I said earlier that it was a short story, so....
Anywho... Which country are you from? Am a Nigerian.
Let's get facts straight here, I love my country but it's fucked up and I can't wait to leave.
