The mouselets thus discovered that the enigmatic author of the diary and her friends had left Mouseford Academy , to follow , in Rome , lessons reserved for the most gifted students . During that summer , each group of students had to design a magazine project , which would then be submitted to an international jury , responsible for selecting the best proposal .

''Dear Diary ,

Never judge a book by its cover and a day by how it starts . As you know , each academy represented in Rome has the mission of imagining a magazine , from the first to the last page ! This morning , Charlotte , Sunny , Pilar , Deb and I came up with the right idea...but with very meager results ! Interesting proposals were not lacking (Charlotte proposed a magazine dedicated to fashion , Deb a magazine explaining to girls how to repair their car) , but it remained to find the little spark that makes our project like no other . When we were on the verge of discouragement , something unexpected happened ! We started chatting with Elena Pirandello and Teresa Zanzotto , two students from the Italian college of Ratilieri (Pilar had asked them how to get to the library , while Sunny wanted to know that it was the most beautiful villa-park to walk around) . We then discovered that they too were always looking for inspiration . In the end , we decided to join forces ! We don't yet know what our project will be about , but it will certainly be very special , because the result of great teamwork ! Tomorrow we will meet for the first time , all together !

I'm very looking forward to be there !

M.R.''

Colette : It's amazing ! The more we advance in the reading of this diary , the more it became very interesting !

Moreover , that afternoon , the notebook proved to be an inexhaustible source of surprise .

Tanya : Hold on , Violet ! Can you read the last page again ?

Violet : "...I thought back to the time capsule we buried last summer in Mouseford..."

Colette : A time capsule ? What is that ?

Connie : What , you don't know what that is ? It is a box in which we put important objects , which we then hide . The person who , for a long time , will open it will thus take an imaginary trip to the past .

Dina : We have to find this box !

Violet : But how ? The diary gives no indication of where is hidden . The only somewhat unusual thing is this blank page in the middle , but-

Paulina : A blank page ? Let me see .

The girl carefully examined the page in question , then smelled it .

Paulina : A-ha ! I knew it , it's a lemon ! Ladies , I think I found the clue we needed ! *show them* Look , this page looks blank , but it's actually covered in so-called friendly ink ! We dip a brush in what is none other than lemon juice , then we write our text . The sheet remains blank , but just place it in front of a heat source for the words to appear !

Pamela : What are we waiting for ?! Let's see if she can give us a clue as to where find the time capsule !

Holding their breath , the girls carefully approached the blank page to a candle flame , and the desired clue materialized before their eyes .

"Hint to find the time capsule

Go directly to the room that serves as a local for the Geckos , and ask for the damsel with her face adorned with pearls ''

Violet : The room that the Geckos Club use as a local...Of course ! It must be the room with the door decorated with geckos and which has become the local of the boys' club !

Nicky : Then , let's go!
