Chapter 3: Blast from the Past

"Rapunzel i- i.." Cassandra tried talking but couldn't due to the guilt "Eugene, you go find Varian I'll handle Cass" Rapunzel said to Eugene in a demanding tone "i hope you know what your doing Rapunzel" Eugene said under his breath.

"Cassandra please.. This isn't you" Rapunzel looked at her once fateful Friend who only looked away in return "Please just listen, we can fix this.. All of this.. Just please come back" Rapunzel said in desperation.

Eugene tried his best to find Varian but he just couldn't find the kid, he anxiously looked around only to see a piece of paper that was hanging by a thread on a rock 'this.. This is the fourth incantation Varian was talking about..' Eugene looked at the paper and searched again for the person responsible of writing it, Varian.

"Cassandra.. Just return Varian please, he didn't do anything" Rapunzel said walking closer to Cassandra who only winched at what Rapunzel had said, She didn't deserve to be redeemed.. What was she supposed to tell Rapunzel...?

"Rapunzel i-" Cassandra tried saying before getting cut off my Eugene "Cassandra what did you do to Varian?" Rapunzel looked at him with confusion "Cass.. Where is Varian?" Before any of them could say anything else Cassandra accidentally broke the black rocks under Rapunzel who was fortunately saved by her hair as Eugene managed to catch it "Rapunzel!".

"I didn't mean to do it.. I-im sorry" Cassandra tried explaining "Use the Moonstone incantation Cassandra" The enchanted girl said slowly loosing her patience "but i-.." "I said use it Now" The enchanted girl persisted.

Rapunzel slowly climbed up her hair making sure to not slip as Eugene then hugged her tightly "it's not over yet.." She said as she looked at Cass "im sorry Rapunzel" Cass said in a hushed tone preparing to say the incantation until..

"Hello?" A voice said startling Cassandra, she knew that voice... It was the voice of.. Varian... The person walked inside trying to process what was happening "uhm- Hello i uh- am I intruding on something?" He said looking around.

"Varian! There you are! Where have you been?" Rapunzel said preparing to hug him "We thought Cassandra did something to you" Rapunzel said as Eugene stepped in "and also what's up with this glowing thing? Is this some kind of alchemy solution you made?" Eugene added.

"Sorry sir but I don't think you have the right person..? You see i don't really know who you are" Varian said shocking everyone "Kid, it's me Eugene, best former thief in corona" Eugene said thinking Varian was just joking.

"Doesn't ring a bell" Varian said which confused Eugene "Ya know, Flynn rider? seriously? How about Team Awesome?" Varian only raised his eyebrow "Varian what happened..? Did you hit your head on something?" Rapunzel said showing a worried look to the alchemist.

"Your name is Varian" Rapunzel said to Varian who looked around confused before pointing at himself "me?" He asked "Yes, You Varian did Cassandra do something to you? Are you being threatened?" Eugene asked as he shaked Varian's shoulders.

Cassandra was shocked.. How was Varian alive..? I saw him get.. How is this possible? Don't get her wrong Cassandra was happy to learn that Varian was alive but.. Still how? Cassandra's mind filled with Questions she wanted to be answered.

"Fine, if your not gonna do it then I will" the enchanted girl said before using every last bit of magic within her to temporarily puppet Cassandra, Cassandra felt a throbbing pain in her head, what was happening to her...? She then made a twisted smile that wasn't her own..

Cassandra looked around in shock, she was back.. She was back to the house of yesterday's tommorow.. Back to the place she once called home.. She winched as she looked at her younger self holding that music box.

Cassandra saw how her Mother denied young cass and mistreated her, Rapunzel was right.. Gothel was a manipulative liar.. The person she called "Friend" lied to her about her own mother.

"Crescent high above, evolving as you go" Cassandra(?) said making the blackrocks hold Eugene in place "Eugene!" Rapunzel shouted "Cassandra i-.. I don't want to hurt you.. Please let Eugene go!".

"And what makes you think I'll do that?" Cassandra(?) said with venom in her voice making the blackrocks squeeze Eugene more as a sound of pain escaped his voice "Rapunzel.. You-.. you need t-to use the fourth incantation" Eugene said as he gave the piece of paper to Rapunzel.

"Im sorry cass, Power of the Sun" Rapunzel sung as her hair glowed "Gift me with your light, Shine into the dark" Cassandra(?) smiled, everything was falling into place "Restore our fading sight"

"Crescent high above"

 "Rise into the dawn"

 "evolving as you go" 

"Blazing star so bright" 

"Raise what lies beneath"

"Burn away the strife"

"Let my hope ignite"

Blast

Eugene held on a rock with his dear life, the blast was too strong.. even the tower didn't stand a chance, almost everyone was knocked away by the blast, Cassandra was the only one who was knocked off.

Varian closed his eyes and prepared himself for the blast, slowly opening one eye he notices that he was unharmed.. Well kind of, there was still a hole in his chest, has that always been there?

Eugene ran to hug Rapunzel "Thank god your alright blondie" Eugene said smiling "is everyone alright?" Rapunzel asked, Varian looked over at the two love birds, he looked around to try and find that other person from before only to have something catch his eye.
